BENEDICT ReggELIZŐ & BÁR — Restaurant in Budapest

I dropped by this place yesterday. Only three tables were occupied, and we sat at a fourth one. Two waitresses were working. One took our drink order, and when the drinks (finally) arrived, I ordered a salad.

After waiting over 25 minutes with no food, I asked if it was being prepared. A few minutes later, I was told that the salad was sold out. No alternative was offered - just a quick apology before the waitress returned behind the counter.

Shortly after, a senior waiter came over, also apologized, and asked if I wanted to order something else at half price. Half price...!!! I think she really wanted to be kind and warmly recommended the cottage cheese dumplings, which may well be delicious - but did it occur to her that I ordered a salad to avoid excess calories? Needless to say, I declined.

The only merit of this place was the beautiful view. Yesterday, it had nothing...

Really disappointing experience at Benedict. We came in expecting a nice breakfast, but ended up waiting about 40 minutes for our food — and honestly, it wasn’t worth the wait. What made it worse was the atmosphere. The owner was loudly arguing with the staff the whole time, right in front of customers. It felt super unprofessional and uncomfortable, like we were watching a live soap opera instead of enjoying breakfast. When we finally got the food, it was just… okay. Nothing that justified the high price, especially after everything we'd just witnessed. For what they charge, I expected way better service and a much more positive vibe. All in all, not recommended. There are plenty of places that treat both guests and staff better, and actually serve food on time. This place needs some serious...

If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know by now that I’m a big fan of Eggs Benedict. So finding a place called Benedict sounded like a safe bet. I’m happy to report the they live up to their name.

The Eggs Benedict was delicious! The poached egg had the warm, runny center I expected, the ham was nicely crisped, and rather than taking a shortcut like many places do, there was an actual English Muffin. It was all enrobed with a generous amount of Hollandaise that pulled it all together.

The staff is friendly and efficient and the environment is quite pleasant. It’s a perfect place for a morning business meeting over a cup of coffee and some delicious food.

You’ll definitely want to make a reservation on the weekend because this place...
