ZAZIE Bistro&Bar — Restaurant in Budapest

I recently visited this restaurant , and while the setting was truly beautiful and the interior design was impressive, our experience left much to be desired.

Upon our arrival, we noticed glasses on the table, but we were not even offered water, which seemed unusual. Additionally, the staff forgot to bring the lemonade we had ordered. This oversight was quite surprising and set the tone for the rest of our visit.

When I requested to have the sauces served separately—because I am on a diet and count my calories—I was told that it was not possible. This was quite frustrating, as I expected a bit more flexibility from a restaurant of this caliber. Furthermore, when I asked about the weight of the meat in my dish, the staff informed me that they did not know. This was particularly strange, as one would assume that restaurants follow specific portion sizes for each dish.

Our dissatisfaction was further compounded by the server’s reaction to our concerns. Instead of addressing the issues, the waiter began to argue with us, which was disappointing. It was quite upsetting that they couldn’t accommodate the simple request of serving sauces separately or provide the weight of the dish, and forgetting the lemonade we were expecting was an...

After raving reviews and a mention in Michelin Guide, we had high expectations coming here. First impressions were fantastic; beautiful decor and fantastic service. Food sounded good on the menu, and even looked beautiful but with every dish there was something not quite right or missing.

The eggplant dip was amazing; but only receiving 2 slices of focaccia wasn’t enough for the dish.

The burrata was fresh but needed more flavours in the pesto.

The chicken filled pancake/crepe was ok - again something was missing to make it pop!

The mains were simile - cauliflower pizza just ok and the chicken was juicy & beautifully cooked but the sauce was a little weird.

Cucumber salad was amazing & home made sour cucumbers were also fantastic.

Cocktails were also good - the alcohol free lemon spritz was just average!

Recommend heading there for the experience & service; maybe just lower your expectations in regards...

I had the pleasure of dining at Zazie Bistro recently, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was bursting with flavor and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The nokedli, we found it a bit oversalted.

The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who made the visit even more enjoyable. In terms of pricing, I found it very reasonable for the quality of the food served—great value for money!

One small drawback was the seating arrangement. If you're sitting facing the lake, the sunlight can be a bit intense, which might be uncomfortable for some guests. However, this is a minor issue .

Overall, I highly recommend Zazie Bistro for its wonderful food, great service, and fair prices. It's definitely...
