Next Bistro Debrecen — Restaurant in Debreceni járás

Next Bistro might have just became my new favorite place in the city.

I first visited the place as part of a company outing few weeks ago and was blown away by the Angus burger. Man, I kept dreaming about it. We went back with the missus for an engagement anniversary dinner and I had a fantastic experience yet again.

The place is beautifully decorated (but what's up with all the lemons? :) ), the terrace in the summer is perfect to chill. The waiters were super friendly on both occasions and quite professional regarding the service.

I don't quite understand the former criticisms of the menu not being diverse enough: don't get me wrong, the menu don't have much to offer, but that is a good thing. That is the sign of what you get will be a quality meal. On diversity, the have meat, vegetarian, pasta, fish, soups, desserts. That's pretty diverse IMHO. I think their burger is one (if not) the best in town, and my wife was extremely satisfied with the cod (perch?) fillet as well. They do care about the presentation too, the food on the plates are very nicely laid out.

To wash down you the tasty bits, they offer Hungarian craft beer on tap beside better-known international brands as well as some Hungarian fine wine.

And don't get me started on the chocolate soufflé...

It is certainly not a cheap place, but you do get quality for your bucks.

They did something shady to me. I decided to celebrate my birthday there last month and I saw that they were offering a birthday discount on their website. I called about it and they said they would give me and everyone celebrating with me the discount. When it was time to pay they didn't give any of us the discount. That was annoying.

As for the food it was okay. Some of the dishes were disappointing but all in all I would say their food is average. I heard their steaks are good though. You would have to try one of them to find out if that is true or not.

Pár hónappal ezelőtt jártunk már ebben az étteremben, akkor fantasztikus élményben volt részünk – ezért is tértünk vissza most újra. Sajnos ezúttal több ponton is csalódnunk kellett.

Már belépéskor kissé lehangoló látvány fogadott: a szőnyegek porosak, koszosak voltak, mintha hosszabb ideje nem takarították volna. Az asztalunk mellé egy nagyon hangosan viselkedő pár került, akik a túlzottan intim megnyilvánulásaikkal sajnos rontották az étkezés hangulatát – ez persze nem feltétlenül az étterem hibája, de mindenképpen zavaró volt.

A felszolgáló udvarias volt, de a szomszédos asztal tisztítása közben használt illatos tisztítószer annyira erős volt, hogy evés közben is folyamatosan éreztük, ami kifejezetten kellemetlen volt.

Az itallapról egyetlen fehér, félédes bort találtunk, de a felszolgáló sajnos nem tudott semmit a bor származásáról, így vissza kellett mennie az étlapért, majd végül az üveget is kihozta, hogy megnézhessük.

Az előétel nem volt rossz, viszont az alapanyagok között nem volt meg az ízharmónia. A főétel (lazac zöldborsó ropogóssal) sajnos csalódást okozott. A zöldborsós köret túlságosan megsült, barnára pirult, így nem illett sem az ételhez, sem a tányér kompozíciójába. A lazac egyik fele jól átsült, a másik viszont belül szinte teljesen nyers maradt. Ezt jeleztük a felszolgálónak, aki tudomásul vette, de további reakció nem történt: nem ajánlottak fel semmiféle kompenzációt, és a konyha sem reagált. Természetesen nem az elengedett tétel lett volna a cél, de egy gesztus vagy pár szó a séftől ilyenkor mindenképpen elvárt lenne egy színvonalas vendéglátóhelyen.

Összességében a mostani látogatásunk sajnos nem ért fel a korábbi jó tapasztalattal. Úgy döntöttünk, egy darabig nem térünk vissza, de reméljük, hogy a jövőben visszanyerik azt a minőséget és figyelmességet, amiért korábban annyira kedveltük...
