John Bull Pub — Restaurant in Győri járás

After reading mixed reviews about this place we decided to go anyway and simply avoid certain items off the menu to avoid disappointment. The weather was wet so we liked the thought of a covered terrace, and some outside heaters. We only received half (!?!) of the menu to choose from, but we chose anyway. Food arrived but after waiting ages to complain about stone cold fries with my 400g burger. After no service staff came outside in at least 5 minutes I ended up walking them inside and asking for some fresh ones before my burger got cold too. When the new fries finally arrived there was no apology at all for the wait, but the fries were at least hot. Next was the burger. 2 big meat patties so size was fine but they were soooooo overcooked and dry. Very disappointing. Coleslaw was an okay side dish though to help moisten things up. In short I expected more from my 3,390 Ft burger. I mentioned the dry patties to the waiter when asking for the bill and he said he'd see what he could do. Nothing, obviously. 10% service was of course added to the bill. All in all a disappointing experience. Service times and attentiveness were also sadly lacking. Would not recommend as there seems to be much better and nicer...

Came here with friends after a long time and as much I used to like the place as disappointed I got. Ok, people mostly come here to eat steak which was good each time I had but if you order something else, well I had to send back my food it was so bad. I ordered veg burger, wich was some raw veg mesh with avocado, RAW patty, was inedible. I sent it back and opted for duck salad, it was ok but duck breast was hardly cooked, I know it supposed to be rose but it had no taste at all when duck can be very tasty. My friend ordered normal beef burger, it was dry and tasteless and the buns were the cheapest, lowest quality buns :( My other friend ordered duck terrine as a starter, well the price is 15 eur for the starter and the portion she got was ridiculous, 2 tiny slices and their texture was not smooth either. Overall the quality of the food we got was horrible, only the service eased our pain as the waiter was polite and understanding and they changed my awful veg burger to the duck salad. There aren’t too many good restaurants in Gyor unfortunately but this used to be one, not sure what happened but don’t want to go...

We arrived for lunch around 12 o'clock. At that time the restaurant was full, mostly locals. We ordered from the main menu, as the staff "forgot" to bring us the lunch menu. That is, the dishes that everyone else had and which were certainly half price. By the time our food was brought to us, the restaurant was empty. We waited a long time. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special. Gulas soup was nice. From the moment the wait staff brought our food, they never showed up at our table again. We would have liked to have had another drink, but even though the restaurant was completely empty, the staff was happily chatting at the bar. Eventually we had to go to the bar to pay. One soup and three meals, plus a large and a small beer and juice cost 23,000 HUF. We will never go to this...
