We had the pleasure of dining at Szégedi Halászcsárda Győr for lunch, and the experience was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. The food was exceptional — every dish was thoughtfully prepared, rich in authentic Hungarian flavour, and presented with care. The balance of spices, textures, and fresh ingredients reflected the skill of the kitchen and a genuine respect for traditional cuisine.
The ambience of the restaurant was equally commendable. With its warm, rustic charm and calming atmosphere, it provided the perfect setting for a relaxed midday meal. The interior was tastefully decorated, and the overall environment was both inviting and serene.
In terms of cleanliness, the restaurant was well-maintained. The dining area, tables, and facilities were all clean and orderly, which contributed positively to our overall comfort during the visit.
What truly elevated the experience was the impeccable service. A special mention goes to Roman, our server, whose gracious demeanour, attentiveness, and polite conduct stood out. He ensured that we were well taken care of throughout the meal without being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. His thoughtful approach left us feeling genuinely appreciated as guests.
In conclusion, Szégedi Halászcsárda Győr offers not just a meal, but a delightful and memorable dining experience. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy traditional Hungarian fare in a pleasant, well-kept setting with commendable service. We look forward to returning on our next...
Read moreThe only reason for giving 3 stars instead of two is that the staff is friendly and welcoming. The food was not good at all. We had a garlic soup - that tasted like made from some powder, fish cracklings - that were a bit soggy, a catfish "paprikás" with cottage cheese pasta - the fish was stale, not salty enough, the pasta overcooked and dull. The fish soup made of catfish that should be the speciality of the place was far worse than expected. Not to mention, the spicy green peppers served on the side were visibly not fresh, neither was the "Erős Pista" (a type of Hungarian spicy pepper mash). All in all, a huge disappointment, the food would be acceptable at a cheap shady roadside canteen maybe, but not on the main street at a place with a decent history. Definitely not...
Read moreA great spot to experience authentic Hungarian fish dishes with pleasant service and a welcoming ambiance. We were a group of five lunching at Szegedi Halászcsárda in Győr and enjoyed a lovely meal. We ordered two types of fish soup, both were generous, full of fish and wonderfully flavorful. The richness and taste stood out as the highlight of our visit. The service was kind and attentive, though occasionally our orders were incomplete. It’s advisable for the staff to write down orders to ensure accuracy. Fortunately, there was no service charge on the bill, which allowed us to tip our waiter directly. The fish platter was delicious and well-prepared, offering a wonderful variety. The restaurant’s interior is charming and adds to the overall...
