I returned to this restaurant after a few years, I remember that the steaks were then very good. Unfortunately, I haven't experienced this now. We went for dinner from the promotional menu, I don't know if the food was worse because of the promotional menu? If so, it's a bad promotion. It should encourage me to come back, but I already know that I will never come back. The lobster soup was good, but there were very few pieces of seafood. The langoustine/shrimp was cut into miniature pieces that you had to look for in the soup. The main course was steak. It was from poor quality meat and the side dishes were boring. There was chocolate cake on the promotional menu, but at the entrance, we were told that they didn't have it on this day and crepes were offered. I've never eaten worse crepes. Undercooked and too much flour. The waiter was very nice, unfrotunately the later the evening got, the busier he was. I think someone should help him on Saturday night. He was answering phones, greeting guests, taking and delivering orders. Therefore, contact with the guest was short and hasty. But I'm not surprised he had so many tasks, it wasn't his foult. He found time to ask how we liked our food, but we were eating soup then, which wasn't that bad, and also I, as a rule, don't return food. We also didn't want to add more work to him. Unfortunately, I do not...
Read moreA. Hansen restaurant was a spiritual journey. A pilgrimage, so to speak. I walked in expecting a touristy spot to grab some "whale steak" an Iceland tourist dish. However I entered into a scene of Game of Thrones, but there was no John Snow, only me and that menu of exotic beast to conquer. Mink Whale and Icelandic horse are options here. Being from a city, my heart sank at the thought of eating one of these majestic creatures but when we asked for a sample bite of each, into the rabbit hole, never once thinking how I would return. The flesh of these mammals were the most savory thing I have ever tasted. After just a few bites I heard opera, I saw the northern lights, I felt my testosterone levels rising. It was something that changed me for the better. If you're in Iceland, for your own sake, go to...
Read moreJust had a nice dinner there with some friends on a Friday evening. We arrived without reservation but there were still a few tables available. They did not give out the wifi password. We ordered different meat dishes which were nicely cooked although they did not ask us how we wanted them done. The menu offers a nice selection of fish, meat, pizza and salads, and, of course, desserts. The wine list was also quite good. As they had a group to serve on the first floor, our orders took a while to serve. They were kind enough to offer us a complimentary dessert for the long wait without any complaining on our part. The desserts were quite nice, especially the skir bomb. We paid about 30€ per person, including our bottle of wine. All in all, one of the best price-quality dinners we had on our 8 day...
