This bakery is not hitting the European standard. Unfortunately I had high expectations and I let down like usually in Iceland. I am a baker us well my self, here somehow the sweets are made with overly sweet feelings or toppings in a heavy oily dough. Cinnamonroll like a stoned, the white chocolate- raspberry filled cruffin made with ganache and cheap raspberry jam in Europe this bakery won’t survive a month but in Iceland is ok because people don’t know lots of bakeries or how should things be. Nutella topped croissant sweet you can not finish it… A recommendation for head baker travel taste and feel very commonly in Iceland everything is over sweet and yet same in Brikk. Use fruit purées no jams that took me off. Also try to eat more than one pastry not possible they are so sweet you want people to spend more in one purchase. I don’t like to do this but it’s good for the bakers to know what can be improved. And I am giving stars with review to help to grow not...
Read moreWe went here for our morning espresso before walking to the lava show with our small luggage. We came back to this cafe at 1pm for lunch before our 1:30pm bus picked us up conveniently across the street. Unfortunately there were issues with their card machines that we weren’t able to place our full order (we wanted espresso, another cinnamon roll because it is AMAZING, and the soup of the day Feb 19). It ended up being the best soup we have EVER had and I wish I had asked what it was so I can spend the rest of my life recreating it, but they were still busy dealing with the machine problem and the line was long. This cafe has a place in my heart! Everything was delicious, everyone was so kind and we are two happy Canadian travellers! Edit to add that this was last year in 2023 but Google decided to keep this in...
Read moreA nice, centrally located, bakery/coffee shop for a quick lunch or coffee with friends in Hafnarfjörður. A friend and I ordered the soup of the day ... a generous serving of a pretty good carrot soup with a kick (ginger) served with your choice of bread + spread/topping!
The service was very friendly and the woman who took our order made sure to explain to us all our choices that came with the soup ( bread & spread/toppings) in a very professional manner that was very helpful. 😊👍
I tried the spicy bruschetta topping that was really tasty & great with the delicious thickly sliced sour bread . 😋
The soup was pretty good but a bit heavy on the bouillon ... leaving an aftertaste that could have been avoided.
There were lots of sweet goodies on sale that looked really good ... something to keep in mind for another visit. 😊
Family friendly with special chairs for kids available for use by its...
