Our group went to visit the lighthouse last Monday, however poor timing had the tide covering the causeway out to it. We sought sanctuary from the strong winds in this restuarant. What a fabulous experience, the friendly welcome had us seated together upstairs in a private room. The food was some of the best we tasted during our trip in Iceland. Several had the daily offer of soup and sandwichs, which words don't do it justice. Tasty, warming and filling. I had two open sandwichs which were so flavoursome. The staff were very accommodating for our more discerning eaters, and changed food options for them. The idyllic atmosphere and views in a friendly environment made for a wonderful experience. Thank you to all the staff from the City of Lisburn group.

Ended our Iceland tour here with a big group dinner. The staff was accommodating and seated us outside for drinks as we were early for our reservation. Once seated upstairs, we were given a choice of two group menus. The atmosphere was beautiful inside and out. The view from outside overlooked the water and the bird sanctuary. The inside was a blend of old and new making it very charming. Service was attentive and fast. Food was good. Seasoned bread, olives, peppers, and aranchini in sauce. Pizzas were unique with topics (pear/walnut, potato/truffle sauce/arugula (a crowd fav), pepperoni/spicy honey/dates, and avocado/tomatoes). As a pizza lover from NY I was really impressed! Would go back and would recommend both for the food and the location!

Ráðagerði is a cozy restaurant & café located in Seltjarnarnes, by the Grótta lighthouse and nature reserve. It is housed in a historic timber building dating from before 1900. Though it feels like it’s out in the countryside, it’s very accessible — only about a 6–7 minute drive from central Reykjavík. The views are a big part of the charm: sea, wide expanses, volcanoes, mountains, and the lighthouse make the surroundings special. Especially in summer, outdoor dining is pleasant; in winter the atmospheric setting is good for quiet evenings, sometimes even northern lights.

For the first time in my life, I feel compelled to spend my time writing a review because of such a terrible experience with customer service.

There were three of us: myself, my husband, and our 1.5-year-old child. We arrived around 9 PM, having checked online that your restaurant closes at 10 PM. We planned to be quick so as not to inconvenience anyone, since we respect people’s time. As we had been to your restaurant before, we decided to sit in the outdoor house, where we noticed another couple already seated.

After 1–2 minutes, a waitress came in and loudly shouted from the entrance asking if we were sure we wanted to sit there. We replied that yes, we did. The menus were thrown on the table, and the order was taken without a single polite question. My husband and I couldn’t understand what we had done to deserve such treatment.

Later, the food was placed on the table in the same manner—without any courtesy. I asked the waitress why she was in such a bad mood, to which she coldly replied, “I am in a good mood.” After that, no one came to check on us again. We finished our food and waited, but for 15 minutes no one entered the area.

Eventually, I went to the main building to ask for service. The staff there finally noticed me, and a young man came out. Without even approaching our table, he shouted from the cashier’s area asking if we needed the bill. I said that I was actually planning to look at the dessert menu and asked if the restaurant was already closed, since it felt like we were not welcome. He replied, “The kitchen is already closed, but you can order dessert.” (At that moment, the time was only 9:40 PM.)

Of course, we did not order any dessert, because even good food could not save an evening ruined by such disrespectful service.

This was a truly awful experience, and if you do not wish to serve guests after 9 PM, please simply communicate that clearly. I regret wasting my time, my money, and experiencing such unacceptable treatment.

I am writing this not out of anger, but with deep disappointment. We had enjoyed your restaurant before, but after this visit, we left with a very...

This restaurant is in an amazing setting right at the end of the Seltjarnarnes peninsula, with wild nature right outside. I have been a couple of times, and was impressed by the food. The first time was for brunch; I had the Turkish eggs on Greek yoghurt, which was incredibly tasty and unlike anything I have seen on a restaurant menu in Reykjavík. My companion had the shashuka, which was also tasty. The fire-cooked bread was amazing. The second time I had the vegan eggplant dish which was ok but nothing to write home about. My partner, on the other hand, had the pear and walnut pizza which was excellent. Unfortunately the service was really poor. Both times we waited a long time for or order to be taken; the second time we sat for about half an hour and watched the waiter take the orders of people who came in after us, clean tables, etc. but not take our order until we physically went to him and asked him to do so. The food took a while to be served, and after that no one paid us any attention. We had to go to the bar and ask for salt and pepper, and we sat there for a long time after eating, but no one came to remove our plates or ask how our food had been. Similarly when I went there for bruch - slow, amateurish service. So, to sum up: stunning location, pretty good food, but be forewarned that the service leaves a lot to be desired and you may be required to chase the waiter/waitress around if you...
