I visited this place for Sunday lunch. Firstly on the ambience.. it was poor, just trading on name of Arabic theme. Just a chandelier was hung for Arabic theme. It was over crowded and we were guided to 2nd floor for normal table seating. This is not a restaurant but a converted n narrow home. After seating, there were water sprinkling from AC, an extra free feature in summer. Now came the waiter to take the order. We asked for H/S Chicken soup. This was clear hot water with some pieces of chicken. After this, asked the waiter for mandi biryani. There were many names but the dish served was the same as per the information provided by waiter. Finally, we asked for Chicken Streak Mandi single portion and asked to make it spicy. He said that he would sprinkle some peri peri Chilli powder and make it spicy. Then came the 3 single Mandi. In which 1 Mandi didn't have dry fruits. When asked they said that they forgot to sprinkle. Chilli streak Mandi is what we ordered. There came Mandi with 2 small strips of Chicken in a plate which costs 279 + tax.
Pathetic experience. We have visited few other Mandi, but none was like this. I have checked with the Billing Counter team, they say for 279 you will only 2 thin strips of Chicken. The chicken was not even 50 grams. Mayonnaise was also not served. We need to pay 29+tax for a small cup, if we need one. Restaurant is in a Rush to bag more money in shorter time.
This place opened up just after the COVID lockdowns. At a time when most restaurants were struggling financially and shut down. Given that context, I give them 4 stars because of their unique concept (at least in this part of the country) great ambiance, service, and overall experience. Restaurants like this bring in new ideas and introduce new tastes to a population that is used to the same old menus. I love them for their boldness. Hope they keep innovating, refreshing their menu and raise the bar for other establishments.
Food was good but there is scope for improvement. I ordered biryani and was expecting a little more flavor. For ex: preparation with a more fragrant basmati rice or with ghee would have delighted me. This one felt just like long-grain rice. Would have given 5 stars if the taste was better and the chicken was more tender and juicier (I don’t mean more oily)
Hope they work on this feedback and improve.
Note: Restaurants that get a 5 star rating usually have white table cloths, much more expensive cutlery, an award winning / at least renowned chef with specials / delicacies (and special dishes taking into consideration food allergies and diets) on the menu, live music, etc. - a memorable overall experience. It must be a place that you want to come back and you would plan your journey in such a way that this restaurant is on the itinerary or you would just clear up your calendar to have a meal here. This place is surely on its way to 5 stars with small...
