We landed here looking at the reviews in search of authentic Assamese cuisine. In one word I would say pathetic.
The place is on 3rd floor and access is through a narrow stairs. For senior citizens it’s a definite no go. The corridors are unclean. The toilet available is horrible unclean and smelly. Someone closed it in between. The seats were dusty and unused. For travellers this place can’t be used if you want to freshen up.
We ordered pork thali and chicken thali. The pork was uncooked and smelly and was floating in the gravy. It’s unhealthy to eat pork uncooked. The chicken was also not cleaned properly and cooked. The vegetable side dishes were ok and the rice was tasty. We ended up having rice with it as we returned the non veg curries.
The restaurant looks like run by a group of youngsters who want to introduce the authentic Assamese food.
My recommendation will be not to chose this place and no second...
Read morePrice: ₹160 Pork Thali, ₹360 for Special Pork Thali. How is it cheaper than other restaurants that serve thali?
Food: The food isn't any good. Tiny pork pieces with mostly fat. 3 varieties of pork dishes in a miniature bowl make it look like you have a variety to eat, but it's a lot of nothing. Dal is all water. Nothing special. There are better options – restaurants in the city.
Location: located on the 3rd floor of the shadiest building you'll find in Lamb Road. Requires some effort to find, as they only have a tiny banner written in Assamese on the outside.
Ambience: Shady building. The inside atmosphere is good. AC works. The restaurant is almost always empty. The tables are dirty. Menu items have no printed picture of the ethnic dishes.
Won't go again, there are better options in the city at the same price and...
Read moreIt's amazing what Gaurishankar and Shashwati have put together. This simple, ethnic restaurant has the most incredible traditional dishes from North-east under one roof. They have travelled across various Northeastern states in search for household recipes that has been passed down from one generation to another - most of them never tasted or known before by general public. Chicken and elephant apple, Roselle and pork - many such combinations are unheard of yet lipsmacking. The thali is huge but reasonably priced. We loved the food, their company and our conversation. They have some beautiful stories to share too. If you are in Guwahati for even a day, this is a must visit. Keep up the good work guys! More...
