If you’re wandering through Uzanbazar and haven’t yet stopped by Hangout Restaurant, you’re missing out on one of Guwahati’s best-kept dining secrets. Nestled in the heart of the city yet offering a cozy escape from the usual crowd, this place strikes the perfect balance between comfort and culinary charm.
What truly sets Hangout apart is its distinctive and thoughtfully curated menu — a rare feat where both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are given equal attention and creative flair. Whether you're a die-hard meat lover or a plant-based purist, there’s something on the menu that will catch your eye and win over your palate.
The vegetarian offerings are far from the generic aloo-gobi or paneer repeats you find elsewhere. Think innovative dishes with fresh, local produce and bold flavors — their Veg Thai Curry and Crispy Mushroom Pepper Fry are revelations in taste and texture. The spices are perfectly balanced, never overpowering, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh and cooked with care.
On the non-veg side, it’s a carnivore’s delight. From their juicy Chicken Tandoori to the deeply satisfying Assamese-style Pork Curry, every dish is rich in flavor and authenticity. The meats are cooked to tender perfection, and the portions are generous. A special shoutout to their Hangout Special Mixed Platter — ideal if you’re indecisive and want to try a bit of everything.
The ambience adds to the experience — laid-back yet stylish, perfect for casual dates, family dinners, or even solo food indulgence. Service is warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the staff know their menu — they’ll recommend dishes based on your preferences without pushing the usual “best sellers.”
In a city overflowing with new cafes and Insta-bait eateries, Hangout stands out for its substance over show, flavor over fluff. It's not trying to be trendy — it's trying (and succeeding) to be good. Consistently good.
Final Verdict: Hangout is where tradition meets innovation — in the food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Guwahati, this spot deserves a place at the top of your...
Read moreIt's located on a small stretch of road along with 5-6 other food joints, including Keventers, Baskin n Robbins, Grill Republica, etc. and together they offer quite a welcoming ambience. It's mostly for the teenage and 20s something crowd to hangout, although people from all ages will like the place. I will speak especially about the Tandoori Chai, which I will say is quite good (especially the way it's being made, which is not seen quite often in Guwahati); although not something mind blowing (cos I've had better tea before). But considering the price and seeing the way they make it you will not complain of anything m sure. Dine-in is there with about four tables with max occupancy of about 15-18 people. They offer snacks, light food, for which you can scan the online menu, along with express service. Ok, parking your vehicle might be an issue so unless you visit on a 2-Wheeler, you might have a problem parking nearby. In case you haven't visited this place along with the other 5-6 food joints consider this as a strong reco to do so. Thanks...
Read moreA nice and cozy restaurant with a warm ambience that’s perfect for both a date or a relaxed family dining experience. The seating is comfortable, and the overall atmosphere feels inviting and pleasant.
The food here is of good quality, and the quantity you get is worth the price. Service is quick and the staff are friendly, always ready to help. They even allow you to customize your food to some extent, which is a bonus for picky eaters.
The only major challenge is parking. Since only street parking is available, it can be a nightmare during peak hours. At times, I’ve had to park my 4-wheeler almost a kilometer away just to visit. However, for 2-wheelers, it’s far easier to find a spot nearby.
The washroom, although small, was impressively clean and hygienic. One thing to note is that the dining area is on the first floor, so the staircase may be a bit of a challenge for elderly visitors and kids.
Overall, my experience was quite satisfying, and I’d definitely recommend this...
