The food, drinks, and overall ambience here are truly impressive for the price point—I was really looking forward to a great birthday celebration. Unfortunately, my experience on July 19, 2025 was completely soured by the attitude of one of the service staff. Despite reserving a table for two in advance, we were seated directly in front of the stage under harsh lighting and right by the main entrance. When I asked to move to one of the other available seats, the server refused in a rude tone, insisting that all other tables were “also reserved” and suggesting we relocate to the non-AC section—even though I had pre booked a table. With rain pouring outside, we had no choice but to sit in the non-AC area, and by the time we left around 9 PM, no guest has arrived to my requested seat. It’s a shame, because I would love to come back for the great menu, but I can’t overlook such...
Read moreMy brother had been recommending Jolly Angler for a while, so I finally decided to check it out — even brought along a visiting friend from the travel sector to join me. It was a weekday, so the place was relatively quiet, which we didn’t mind.
Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. We started with a pork dish (requested with less fat), but it turned out bland and unimpressive. Next, we ordered the potato wedges, which weren’t really wedges at all — more like oddly cut fries. Definitely not what you'd expect if you're used to proper wedges. Also surprising was the lack of basic snacks like peanuts — perhaps considered too “Indian”?
We ordered a pitcher of Budweiser, wrapped up our conversation, and decided to leave early. Overall, Jolly Angler didn’t meet our expectations this time — maybe just an off day, but not quite the “amazing” experience we...
Read moreThe Jolly Angler is a welcome watering hole in the largely 'dry' landscape of Uzan Bazar. It's stylish and classy interiors, excellent service and top class food is worth experiencing! There is also a proper stage for live performances and adequate space that has been well planned, unlike most of the other cramped places in Guwahati which play live music. The food menu is extensive and innovative and there is no compromise on quality. Pork lovers should try the 'pork popcorn' which is a great snack. They also have a good assortment of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The pitcher is a good idea and reminded me of Bangalore pubs, however they don't have draught beer. On most evenings it's a lively place with a good young crowd, nostalgic classic rock and jazz. My...
