My family and I recently visited this place in South City, Ludhiana. While the ambiance, both inside and out, was quite appealing, and we were seated promptly after a short wait, our first dining experience here was ultimately disappointing.
Given the premium prices on the menu, my expectations for the food's taste and quality were very high. Unfortunately, those expectations weren't met. The portions were surprisingly small, and frankly, the taste was comparable to what I could find at more affordable establishments. For example, the corn kababs were dry and difficult to swallow, and the dal, despite promises of "double" or "triple tarka," was remarkably bland—I've had significantly better at local dhabas in Ludhiana. The Pudina Paratha also lacked any discernible mint flavor, tasting like a standard tandoori paratha.
A small but notable detail was the absence of sirka wala pyaz (vinegar onions), a staple for many Punjabis. Even the plain sliced onions were served in a very casual, "dhaba-style" bowl, which felt out of place for a restaurant positioning itself as high-end.
To top it off, a tip of approximately ₹700 was automatically added to our bill without my consent. This amount felt excessively high, especially considering our dissatisfaction with the food. I had to request its removal, which was an awkward but necessary step specially when nobody asked about the feedback of the food.
Perhaps the most astonishing aspect was the prominent display of a "Michelin Guide Abu Dhabi" sticker. When I inquired about this, the manager seemed entirely unaware of what the Michelin Guide represents. For a supposedly high-end restaurant, a lack of basic knowledge about such a prestigious culinary guide from its management is truly unacceptable.
The gratitude was missing at the end for visiting the restaurant.
In conclusion, while excels in ambiance and service, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for exceptional food. You'll likely find a more satisfying and value-for-money culinary experience at a traditional dhaba or other established restaurants...

Read morePunjabi Grill in South City, Ludhiana, continues to impress with its consistently delicious food! Our recent visit, just a few days after a very nice previous experience, reaffirmed their commitment to authentic Punjabi flavors. Each dish was expertly prepared, bursting with taste and leaving us thoroughly satisfied. The broccoli cheese was very tasty, The ambiance remains warm and inviting, making it a pleasant place to dine.
However, a slight disappointment arose when we had a significant amount of food leftover. We requested it to be packed, but the restaurant refused too. This was insufficient excuse as we had a large quantity of food remaining and felt a bit wasteful.
Despite this packaging issue, the quality of the food at Punjabi Grill cannot be overstated. The taste and freshness were exceptional, and the service was generally attentive. We hope they consider providing more appropriate packaging options for leftovers in the future, as it would elevate the overall customer experience to match the high standard of their cuisine. We'll certainly return for the wonderful food, and hopefully, this minor concern will...
