Read moreI had tried Mandi as takeout from here before and I must say, I had no complaints about the food whatsoever. In fact, it would fare quite decently against authentic versions of the classic Middle Eastern Mandi. Apart from that, thier sides and naans are also amazing. I also heard that this place had a majlis which is a traditional Arab style seating arrangement. I wanted to try it but couldn't get time to dine out there. But once I was passing by with my friends and thought to myself, why not? So, we went in and since we weren't actually hungry, we just ordered some rolls and juice. I asked the cashier if we could be seated in the majlis upstairs as I wanted to experience it. The guy straight up told me in a very blunt manner that I would not be allowed to sit up there because I ordered only rolls. I get the 'Your restaurant your rules' part, but by doing that, he made me feel inferior, something I never expect to feel when I walk into a restaurant I could afford to eat at. This hint of classism is everything that's wrong with this society and restaurants like these. This whole incident was over in a couple of seconds as I didn't want to argue and no one noticed it. But I feel that normalising these kind of incidents is not right. The person who told me this probably wouldn't even have realised it was disrespectful and would be saying that to hundreds of other people. I would ideally give 0 stars if I could because that mentality is disgusting but at the same time I don't want to be unfair to the food, and thus, the 5 stars are reduced to 2. I wish the restaurant best of luck and hopefully you guys will try to avoid incidents...
