We heard that it is one of the oldest hotels in that place. We didn't know that, just like that we had gone to eat food.
We had a bisibele bath and upma. Both are good and decent in taste. Many are saying that it lost its charm but as we don't know how it was, we cannot comment on that. The present taste is good as of what we had tasted.
It's self service. We have to go to the service place and get our order.
If taste is good and service is normal then why did we rate 2 stars ⭐⭐. It's because of the arrogant guy sitting at the cash counter. Yes, the guy is an old person who will carelessly and recklessly behave with customers. His attitude towards customers feels that because of him it lost its old charm. When we do UPI payments he scolded us saying that why can't we carry money 🤷. Somehow we gave him money after collecting all the remaining currency notes from our bags. Then he gave a torn 50 rupee note. After one round of food, we went to order another round and this time we gave him the same note and he looked at that note for 2 minutes and finally kept it(we guess he recollected that it was the note which had given earlier). Also he didn't respond to the questions we were asking for the food details much.
So for the food you can visit the place but don't expect much from the cashier.
Taste: 4/5 Price: 3.75/5 Service:...
Read moreMangal Hotel is a quaint old restaurant that holds a special place in the hearts (or should I say tummies) of South Bangaloreans, especially those around Hanumanthanagar and Srinagar.
Most of the above people order a plate of Butter Khali Dosa (Benne Khaali) and Rava Vada which are the specialities at Mangala hotel. You can order a Khaali dosa, Khaali Dosa with Palya or Khaali Dosa with Saagu. You can top any of the above with extra butter. Of course nothing beats the combination of Khaali Dosa and their trademark chutney.
When Mangala was at it's old location on 4th Cross, Hanumanthanagar, the Khaali Dosa used to be served with butter smeared on it. But now, for reasons best known to the management, you have to smear it yourself after the Dosa is delivered.
Service was available at the earlier location, but now it's a self service restaurant.
Other food items served include the run of the mill South Indian breakfast items like Idli, Vada , Masala Dosa, Plain dosa etc. Special mentions about Bataani (Green Peas) Khara bhaath and Pineapple Kesari bhaath.
Water it down with filter coffee or tea.
Parking not available near the restaurant. Park your vehicles on 50 feet road or 4th Cross Hanumanthanagar (bus route) and walk down to the restaurant. Wheelchair access not available. Restaurant does not accept...
Read moreMangala hotel is a well known for khali dose which is an old hotel in hanumanth nagar - Bengaluru. I'm going to this hotel from past 17 years when I was new to Namma Bengaluru as it was in the same locality and every weekend was a ritual to have bfast in mangala hotel. Previously it was a small hotel now they shifted to new place with more space (though you hardly get chair to sit😀). The best part is the taste of khali dose haven't changed in these years. They have still maintained their authenticity, hotel old charm and cleanliness. Everytime i visit this place i relish the khali dose as same as 17 years ago. They give two super spongy khali dose with watery spicy chutney and butter( have to pay extra for butter). They have limited menu like uddina vade, rava Vada, kesaribath, masala dose, bisibelebath are yummy among the menu. Though always it will be crowded but service is super fast.when you are in this area don't miss this hotel to have their signature dish - Khali dose with your family...
