Made out of artificial rock, Sri Govardhana Kshetra in Basavanagudi is among Bangalore's unique temples. Govardhana Kshetra is a Lord Krishna Temple located in Basavanagudi near BMS College. The entrance and inside the temple is designed as a cave. This is a Sri Krishna Temple that belongs to one of the Ashta-Matha of Udupi, Puttige Matha. This is a sacred & religious temple open for public and mainly visited by Hindu, Brahmin, Madhwa community. The structure of the temple resemble the Govardhan hill that was lifted by Lord Sri Krishna with his small finger to protect his followers. This is very nicely and wisely depicted in the temple. The main deity Lord Sri Krishna is standing in the middle of the cave like structure almost in the open so that we can see him from all 360 degrees. This temple has a huge "Pathashala", religious school for Hindu, Madhwa followers, and all belonging to the community can take the benefit of this knowledge by enrolling into this religious school. Several religious ceremonies are performed by the learned and experienced priests and the food served in this temple is one of the best and follow Udupi method of pure Vegetarian food.

Govardhantemple is very unique, made out of rock and artificial rock material with Krishna idol carrying Govardhan hill. This temple is well themed and well planned temple covered with rock façade which is found very fascinating .The entrance to temple way is like cave. The Lord Shree Krishna is holding Govardhan parvata. There are many carvings of Shree Krishna in this temple which is well secured with cctv cameras and security guards provided with drinking water supply & availability of washrooms. The seaters provided in this temples are very few , not properly lit with dustbins .This temple is hardly accessed by differently abled due to absence of Ramps and railings .Even though this space has non slippery pathways the way to access it is very narrow not only for aged but also for all other category people.

Well I am from Udupi and Ashtha Mathas of Udupi and their connected temple has a special significance to me. I have visited this religious place without much expectations and the experience I had was divine and total bliss. It might not look great from outside but once you enter you will be taken aback. Everything is systematic and well managed. Place is not crowded and has a serene , dark, divine environment. Lord Krishna in Govardhana dhari form is beautiful and you realise the entire structure looks like balancing on his little finger. You can click pics.. you can do meditation in the corner. Interior walls are covered with Murals from Lord Krishna's life especially his Bala Leela's. While exiting there is a small Goshaala too.. overall I like the entire experience here. It is not only divine but unique too.

Love visiting this temple to have the divine darshan of Lord Krishna and not to forget the delicious sweet poha prasadam. The temple is located on the Bull Temple Road and very easily accessible. The temple belongs to the famous Shri Govardhan Kshetra Mutt, Udupi. In addition to the enchanting darshan of Shyaamsundar, one will get mesmerized by the beautifully designed temple which is in the form of a cave representing Giriraj Govardhan. The walls have been used mindfully to show the various pastimes of Krishna in Vrindavan. The temple also has a Goshala inside where one can touch and pray to the Gaumata. Interested devotees can offer sevas by contacting the desk present at entrance. It's a must visit place in Bengaluru.

Very beautiful place. Nice but little complicated building structure. Completely Rock theme till 1st floor. Very narrow corridors. There is a moveable chair machine at every staircase which helps in transporting people who couldn't climb up/down the stairs. It's very difficult to find parking for 4 wheelers, it's next to impossible. It has a Gau Mata display section, where you can take blessings of Gau Mata. It has 3-5 floors. Each floor has different functions going on. You can book the place for any celebrations. Decent food prepared for the same. Parking is very difficult.
