Murphy's completed 4 years of their being in Bangalore and we visited murphy's for a weekday dinner. Murphy's actually makes me nostalgic with memories of my birthday last year which we celebrated on the top dance floor area. The dance floor now is closed and the top floor opens only on wednesday's for ladies night, and on weekends starting fridays.. Now murphy's hasn't really changed its decor as it already had a pretty striking decor captivating a very Irish Pub feel... The stewards and stewardess are dressed in the same way to give an authentic Irish pub feeling. Well what has changed, is a new menu... We were just two people so we could try only a limited items as below:- Drinks:- Craft Beer Samplers:- Paddy's poison - Loved it, first time tasted a sweet ale which went really well with the food, it froths much and the blend has a nice smoothness. Holy Sally - It didn't really suite the kind of taste I would like in beer, but it might be liked by other people. Good Colly - Another beer that I would go for the next time I visit them, a strong flavour and texture suiting my taste. Black Beard - Its the stout, well I'm not really a big fan of stout cause of its high bitterness but this one has coffee and chocolate blend in it... The coffee is evident as soon as you sip it , then the chocolate takes over and leaves just a slight of bitter aftertaste.
Starters:- Veg Cowboy Nachos - The right kind of nachos.. light, creamy and beans cooked well is what I would prefer in nachos... veggie options are the best when choosing nachos. Murphy's mild chicken wings - The chicken wings didn't really standout, the sauce wasn't that great, the cook on the chicken was tender but the overall flavour did'nt shine. Bacon wrapped prawns - This is a lipsmacking offering, anybody who drools on bacon and prawns, its a must try... the sauce is heavenly and the prawns were a delight... It was so good that I had the whole plate of prawns alone... Lemon chilly basil prawns - A good combination of prawns, basil and lemon, the marinate was good and prawns were very juicy, just a bit more lemon in it would zest it up more.
Pizza:- Indiana and Barbecue chicken half n half - The pizza was a killer, we ordered half n half with Indiana which has paneer and the other was bbq chicken.. The pizza base was thin crust, the trending one and the paneer elevated the pizza to a different high, similarly did the chicken, it had some gravy in it which made the chicken very juicy and tender... The pizza definitely won our hearts...
Main Course:- Grilled Salmon Steak - The Showstopper... Salmon steak served on a bed of saffron risotto, garnished with some microgreens depicted a painting by an artist. The risotto was classy, the saffron flavour wasn't overpowering at all and the rice was cooked really well... The salmon was pan seared to perfection, the cook was spot on and when you take a bite of the whole dish, it would excite your tastebuds for sure. Dessert:- Baked Alaska - The dish looks really great, ice-cream cake, meringue and Paul John whiskey flambeed on it... The ice-cream cake had a combination of Pista, strawberry and pineapple ice-creams, which didn' t really work out and made the overall flavour go subtle... The paul john whiskey was fabulous and elevated the dish. I'd like the combination of ice-cream to change which I feel will make it a lot better..
Overall I should say, the service and food quality has risen in heaps, the manager Mr.Arul and the steward Mr.Ramanand were great hosts and took a lot of care about the food and service plus took all the feedback we provided. Murphy's has multiple seating options and you can choose your ambiance according to what you like.. The interiors are all wooden, clad with frames containing some very quirky posts, the chairs are made out of their own craft beer barrels and the Irish pub feel is maintained...
Read moreWe love brew and breweries and are big supporters of them. We almost never leave negative reviews anywhere, and this one is no different and is only feedback. The experience at this brewery was, to put it mildly, awful.
Speaking of specifics, anyone would anticipate having food and booze together, and ideally all the breweries we visit offer beer (or beer flights) in addition to the food we order, which is typically snacks. We waited for an hour at this place, during which time we could do nothing but drink beers on an empty stomach, burp, and burn our bowels. No one offered a courtesy snack or even acknowledged that the food was running late. After 40 minutes of waiting and numerous unsuccessful attempts to get the attention of the staff, who slyly avoid eye contact, no one arrived at our tables. I had to approach the manager to understand why it was getting late. I merely received the response, "We will check." This was a poor and careless way to respond! In any case, after an hour, we eventually received the food. The explanation offered was that the food dropped into the elevator and they had to cook something new for us. Okay, but why wasn't this explained in the beginning? We were perplexed as to why the kitchen was even located downstairs and that the food had to be retrieved frequently. (A hint!!)
Anyway, the staff appears to be very kind, albeit some appear to be careless of their responsibilities. For instance, because there are just men's urinals and no toilet basins, someone had thrown up on one of the urinals, leaving the area filthy and smelly, and no one bothered to clean it up.
Despite everything, we really enjoyed the beers, especially the fantastic english ale and the dry stout! Unless there is something compelling, it is sad that this experience might not motivate us to make the effort to travel so far to enjoy the brews.
I just hope that by leaving this message, the staff and management would learn to take this criticism positively and improve their services. Based on our experience, our thousands of Instagram followers shouldn't feel uncomfortable about visiting the this wonderful place!!...
Read moreEverything was just Perfect about this place. Starting from locating this place with a big sign in red shown as 'The Paul' when you are approaching from the Domlur stretch via Koramangala.
The entrance looked really classy with a porch at the entrance. Murphy's was on the 2nd floor and damn it gives you the feel that you're entering somewhere good. Its an Irish themed Pub where you'll see the chairs to be made out of a barrel which is again unique. Smokers should take up the top floor where you can smoke with your drink, along with a nice view from the top. You can also sit in the dining place downstairs if you don't prefer the gaseous elements.
Lets come to the point now. We ordered one Black beard and a Good Jolly to begin with and they were just the beer you can ask and crave for. The Black beard comes with a strong and thick coffee taste which will definitely give you an amazing high and a good time. Good Jolly is a more lighter wheat beer which is perfect for folks who are trying brewed beer for the 1st time. We paired the beers with some 'Twice Baked Bacon Potatoes' and some normal fries. Bacon was well filled inside a potato skin with a cheese topping. Juicy and nicely flavored. Fries were also up to the mark and went well.
Now our 2nd round consisted of English Ale and a beef dry fry and it was going absolutely good with the 'Ale'. Overwhelmed by the good service and recommendations, we decided on another Mug of English Ale which made our ending very very happy.
Overall, its a great place to spend an evening with anyone of your choice (which means), be it your friends, family or your better half. Music was regular with a mix of old classics. It also conducts a lot of events which I am eagerly looking forward to attend and hopefully I would see a different side of this amazing place with its...
