This eat out what you call "Mess" in many places has a long history why the owner of this eat out named it as "Dr. Raj Biriyani Center". Earlier during 1980's and 1990's he had his mess located in Killari road in the same part of Cubbenpet. Now he has recently (I'm also not sure from when) relocated his shop to 17th Cross of Cubbenpet.
The owner of this eat out named this mess as "Dr. Raj Biriyani Center" because our beloved "Annavru / Padma Bhushan / Karnataka Ratna / Varanata" Dr. Rajkumar used to come to this place every weekend without fail to savour his favorite and very famous "Mutton Leg Soup" which we localites call it as "Kaal Soup" when it was in Killari road. No wonder many people turn up to this place to savour his very famous signature recipe "Kaal Soup".
His soup is priced very economical at just ₹. 70 (with 1 leg piece and soup gravy in it) and ₹. 15 (without leg i.e only the soup gravy). He also serves Thatte idli (Plate Idli) with his specially prepared non-veg gravy chicken biryani every morning. Afternoon he serves left over soup grevy, chicken pulav, idli, kabab, boti fry, chilli chicken - all these dishes are equally good and at par to the standards.
HIGHLIGHT - FOR ALL THE NON-VEG LOVERS PLEASE DON'T MISS TRYING HIS VEY FAMOUS LEG...
Read moreI recently dined at Raj Restaurant, hoping to savor some delicious biryani. Unfortunately, it was a nightmarish experience from start to finish.
First, the service was incredibly slow, with the staff seeming disinterested and unresponsive. We waited for what felt like an eternity before our order was even taken.
When the biryani finally arrived, it was a major letdown. The rice was overcooked and clumped together, resembling a mushy mess rather than the fragrant, fluffy biryani I had anticipated. The chicken was dry and tasteless, as if it had been cooked hours ago and reheated.
The portion size was also disappointing for the exorbitant price we paid. It felt like we were paying for the ambiance rather than the quality of the food.
To add insult to injury, the restaurant seemed understaffed, and we struggled to get anyone's attention when we needed something, whether it was water or a simple request to fix the overcooked biryani.
I can't emphasize enough how disappointing this dining experience was. I expected so much more from Raj Restaurant, especially when it comes to a dish as iconic as biryani. I won't be returning, and I advise others to think twice before wasting...
Read moreOur family recently dined at this restaurant, located in a bustling market area. We found the food to be decent, with flavors that delighted our taste buds. The dishes were served piping hot, ensuring an enjoyable dining experience. The service was commendable, with attentive staff members who were quick to cater to our needs. However, the restaurant's ambiance was lacking, as expected in a busy market. Despite this, the quality of the food and the efficient service made up for any shortcomings in the setting. Overall, it was a satisfying and pleasant dining experience...
