The place is in the corner of the busy Padmanabhanagar road next to the 15E bus stop.
Alert: You don't get saambaar here.
The butter masale dose is the only variety you get. But that's the most famous item here. No garlic, no onion.
Let's talk about the dose Colour: 5/5 Crisp to soft ratio: 5/5 The butter: 5/5 Palya: 4/5 Size 3/5
Chutney Taste: 5/5 Quantity: 3/5
You only get chutney with the dose. It is extremely delicious. The dose is just the right crisp and right amount of soft. The butter is extremely discernible unlike other restaurants where butter is barely tasted. You don't get the red chutney smear inside the dose like you do in other outlets because that chutney is usually made with garlic and this restaurant doesn't use garlic. But the absence is not even felt. The chutney is awesome! Both kinds that you get here for idli and dose. Taste-wise, OUTSTANDING.
Caveats
Quantity: Although the dose is quite remarkable, the quantity of chutney is quite less and the size of the dose is quite small. I have to tell you that you do get extra chutney for free if you request them. But be smart and ask them to serve more while collecting the order itself. Coz once you collect your order, going back into the hungry crowd waiting at the counters and managing to get extra chutney is a task! The dose size being small isn't as big a deal given the dose is just 40 bucks and you can easily get one more. The same size of dose is being served at a much higher price in some of Bangalore's iconic restaurants(not naming them coz I still love em).
Real estate
Very less parking space coz you have to park on the street. Given the popularity of the place, you'll hardly ever find parking. If you're planning to go here by car, park your vehicle on one of the nearby streets and walk it.
Not a lot of place to stand and eat. There's literally NO place to sit and eat. Again, with the footfall here, you'll often find it hard to find a place to stand and eat.
Delivery system can be a bit more streamlined with token systems for the dine-in option as well.
But otherwise, go eat one of the best doses...
Read moreWow! Excellent food here. Loved the Benne Dosas, Idlis and Vadas. They serve Satvik food, so absolutely No Garlic and No Onion. 💯👌🏼 Very tasty.
Food : 5/5 The Dosa was excellent, Benne Masala Dosa. The butter added is tasty, unlike in a few places despite ordering Benne Dose, that butter does not give a good flavour and smell. So Benne is quite good and fresh. The masala (Potato stuffing) is also excellently cooked, no garlic no onion ofcourse, the potatoes are nicely smashed into a good paste. So it's not too hard. Excellent Dosa, very crispy on the outside and nice and fairly bigger than the ₹25 Dosas outside. Idli was also soft and tasty, i loved the vadas even more as they were hot, crispy and tasty as well. Chutney is decent, fresh coconut chutney, i just hope they keep it the same freshness always. We also tried the coffee & Badam milk here, which was also excellent.
Ambience : 4.5/5 Decent ambience, nothing too special. The place is relatively smaller than most of the other joints, yet very well managed. They have people to clean the tables and help you with taking the used place to keep them for wash. They'll actually take it as soon as you are done, even if you are.juat standing. So great service, kind folks. I met the one sitting at the counter (not sure if he owns the place), I've seen him at South Kitchen, NR Colony. Great and kind person. Quick at taking orders.
Parking, will be a small challenge, we visited late in the night so we could manage a spot near the restaurant. But i see the road infront is a bus route, so there's a high chance that the street could be busy in day time.
Pricing : It's decent, ₹12 for Idlis, ₹20 for Vadas and ₹40 for Benne Dose. ₹10 for Coffee and ₹20 for Badam...
Read moreVery quickly this place has gained our love for dishes served here. A place with clean kitchen and surroundings. It's genuinely Saatvik, how the name suggests. No use of onion and garlic in the foods. And every dish is tasty, delicious. It is a testament in fact that you don't need garlic and onion everywhere to have the deliciousness quotient. It needs good, balanced recipes with good quality ingredients.
We so far tried Idli, Vada, Uppittu, Navane bisibele bhath, Shevige bhath(SB), filter coffee, of course and none other than Masala dosa.
Every dish is special in its unique way. But special mention is for the Masala dosa. Thick and crispy. Reminds me of CTR. They add cabbage in place of onions to have that masala factor. The chutney served with dosa is different than the one with Idli. It's white in color and must say, it's super tasty.
Also, a big shout out for their SB which I rate even above Veena Store's SB. It's perfectly moist; not dry and still not sticky. Out of the world! A dish with minimal ingredients I believe and so delicious!
Also, btw they have these sweets - Badam puri and flaky Mysore paak (not the soft one), which are available on single piece basis as well. They too were fresh made in pure ghee.
Yet to try their Khara bhath, Avalakki bhath and others.
Overall our favourite go-to these days! :) Kudos...
