Yes FatChef Is Open, for delivery and yeah you had to believe that this is the first time am ordering from them. Yes it’s been almost 8 years since I moved to bangalore and yes, never tried them before, surprising isn’t it. A friend in my apartment complex recommended that I try, and I was quiet surprised by the food that was served. Since then, I have been going Gaga over the recent food experience i had with The Fat Chef here on Varthur Road.
The Barbecue Style Chicken wings were a perfect starter to the wonderful meal, loved the smoky sweetness of the sauce-drenched, delicious chicken wings, perfect to turn any house party from boring to awesome,
The Panko Crusted Fish & Chips, That I Recently Got Delivered To Home was an absolute delight, the whole family loved it. The fish was extremely fresh, beautifully Panko crusted and wonderfully cooked to perfection. It was a good portion with loads of chips. While my family would have preferred the more traditional tartare sauce, But I am big ON for the wasabi mayo with which it was served, fabulous. Maybe The Fat Chef should give an option among the two for the traditionalists.
So when I was choosing what to order for mains for me, The Pepper Steak came up, and it was highly recommended by a friend too. Well, I wasn’t disappointed, it was a deliciously cooked piece of chicken breast in a sauce that was just right. But first, I loved the individual packaging of the mashed potatoes and veggies that made them all the more enjoyable. The chicken packed quiet a punch with that delicious sauce. The sauce was mild hot, juicy chicken, absolutely lovely mash and the veggies grilled to perfection, overall an amazing dish, throughly enjoyed and highly recommended from The Fat Chef.
Absolutely Loved the mains and then a special appearance by their Watermelon & Basil Sangria happened. Ending the day with this watermelon & basil sangria was an absolute bliss. The sweetness of the watermelon was beautifully cut by the sharp basil punch, it’s a match perfectly soaked in heaven.
I must confess, I only got to take a few bits off this delicious chicken burger, as It was my daughter’s meal, I managed to get a few bites and I absolutely loved it. The patty was very meaty, wonderfully cooked, minimally spiced, perfectly seasoned between the large burger buns. The only downside for my daughter was it wasn’t saucy with a mayo smothered, gooey, messy burger. And that’s exactly why I liked it, there were no distractions for me between the the bun & the meat, easily chopped of a few bites without messing myself up
I must definitely mention about the packaging, it was impeccable, with no spills or breakages, simple yet effective packing, delivered On Time, this restaurant is a must try and comes highly recommend, it’s currently open only for delivery.
More recently ordered their Kutchi Memon Style Mutton Biriyani, Absolutely fabulous Biriyani, deliciously cooked meat, beautifully cooked rice and that masala, fabulous. A really great mutton Biriyani that they whole family absolutely devoured, actually took me back to the Biriyanis am used to while growing up in Chennai. The meat was not that, fall of the bone type, but it was just perfectly and beautifully cooked, firm, and delicious. One extra tomato, the Biriyani could have easily become tomato rice, so it was that perfect balance of tomatoes to onions, to meat, everything was just perfect and well balanced, which is extremely difficult to perfect. Not spicy at all, with no visible green chillies, but great flavours.
Overall The Fat Chef is highly recommended in this part of town, fabulous menu, superb flavours, and now that they are open for Dine In, am gonna...
Read moreI visited this quaint and cosy place called The Fat Chef in Whitefield to satisy my dining out cravings and came out all satisfied and grinning . Also kicking myself for not visiting the place sooner.
At the entrance, they did the now normal and mandatory temperature check and hand sanitization. The staff was wearing masks and gloves and the place looked spick and span. Tremendous efforts being made to keep the place up and running without any compromise whatsoever. They also have kept a board outside mentioning a long list of safety measures in place. It is quite reassuring for a customer.
Ambiance : One word to best describe the vibe is, relaxed. You can sit down, enjoy your cup of freshly brewed coffee or sip on a glass of wine while enjoying the delectable fare from the numerous cuisines they have to offer. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. You have lush green creepers on the outside which shuts you from the cacophony on the streets outside.
FOOD : I tried various dishes and would give a detailed review with special mention to the unmissables. I got to know they have the same staff for almost more than a decade, which is why they have such stronghold on their menu.
Drinks : The place actually has an insane wine collection, including many imported ones , which is sadly not available as of now due to the govt guidelines. However, you can purchase them to take along. We, therefore ordered the watermelon ice tea and the virgin mojito. They were refreshing and pefect to set the mood.
Salads : We had the watermelon and feta cheese salad. Vibrant , fresh and light. Do not miss this.
Soups : Tried a couple of soups, roasted pumpkin with parmesan and creamy corn and chicken. Both the soups were beautifully prepared, however I am partial to the pumpkin one. It was too good.
Starters : Tried many dishes in the starters, as elucidated below:
Jalapeno Poppers and Chicken Tartlets: They came in a tart shell which was extremely soft and just melted in the mouth. The tartness of Jalapenos carried it amazingly well.
Fish Fingers: A dish you can bet on to be good. Fish was fresh and well fried. The mustard sauce gave it the kick it needed.
Pav Bhaji Fondue : It was terrific. The bhaji was toothsome. Here is one place that has got the pav bhaji flavour bang on. Must have.
Cheeselings : Its a modern take on the peanut masala with the cheeselings replacing the peanuts. A nice munching snack which came on a cute bicycle.
Main Course: Main course included chicken pepperoni pizza, margherita pizza, veg lasagna , chicken Burmese khow suey, and eggplant parmigiana. Everything was nicely done. Special mention to the eggplant parmigiana. It was insanely good, the eggplant had that quintessential burnt flavour. A standout dish.
Desserts : We savoured many dishes in the desserts - choco lava cake, blueberry cheesecake, Irish cream and mint chocolate cup , banoffee trifle and lemongrass crème brûlée . Everyone had their own favourites, but I liked the lemongrass crème brûlée. It was creamy and had a very subtle hint of lemongrass.
Overall, it was a pretty satisfying lunch to say the least. The staff was prompt and attentive . Even the owner , Vandana was very gregarious and hands on with everything. Visit the place with your friends and family. Its open for dine-in and has all the safety measures in place. And the food is top notch....
Read moreNote: I have never been to this place, but have been ordering food from this place very frequently and really like their food. This rating is due to my experience just a few minutes ago, and my conversation with a person from the restaurant over a phone call.
And I'm also sure my review will be shot down by the arrogant person whom I spoke to with his illogical justifications.
So here is what happened: I ordered a dish called as Ema Datshi via Zomato. This is the description of the food on Zomato: 'Ema Datshi' From The Land of The Thunder Dragon - "Bhutanese cheese and rice broth with a spicy garlic and chilli chutney."
I order the food, I get it, I eat and it turns out to be very spicy. Really spicy. It wasn't really marked or mentioned on Zomato that it is a spicy dish (They have marked on few other dishes, so I expected this to be of a regular spice level) So I decide to call up the restaurant and tell them about it. The person I first spoke listened to what I had to say. He then handed over the phone to A GUY WHO HAS NO EARS BUT HAS AN EXTRA PAIR OR MOUTH INSTEAD. I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH SUCH AN ARROGANT PERSON EVER IN MY LIFE. He absolutely did not hear a word of what I was trying to say. He went on by saying Ema Datshi is a spicy dish and as though it was my fault I did not know it isn't. He yelled around and asked me if they served idli should he be mentioning that it is non-spicy. Where is the freaking logic in that? And he yells some more and asks me to contact Zomato and talk to them about this.
Forget about running a business, this isn't even the way you deal with people. We are living in a society!
I just read the negative reviews of this place and a LOT of them mention about some arrogant person/owner.
FYI to the person who spoke to me: I wasn't trying to get a refund. I really wanted to know why the dish was so spicy or if it was just a mistake. And if it is supposed to be spicy, I wanted to request to fix the menu on Zomato. I was trying to help, you see.
I just feel sad for this person.
I need people to read this review and need this person to realise that this isn't the way to deal with people. Spread the word...
