Spicy Kabab Corner has always enticed me with wonderful aroma whenever I pass by, but it is more of a street cart transformed into a restaurant and hygiene has always been questionable when I look at the place from outside. However my apartment mates are seen there regularly and when approached recommended the place highly and reaffirmed me that food is fresh and hot and the chances of catching a bug is almost minor or nil as they have never faced any issue with the hygiene with their weekly takeaways from here. Too tempted, recently I picked up a chili mushroom and a vegetarian schezuan fried rice from here for dinner. As with the pending orders with just one chef helming the two hot busy stoves, and multiple customer walkins, my order took it’s time but as I noticed the mushrooms were cut in front of me, battered up and fried in oil before tossing in a spicy mix of chilli vinegar, chilli sauce and soy with hint of a tomato or scheuzuan sauce with some capsicum and onion cubes with slivers of fresh green chilli. The fried rice was excellent with the right level of heat and beautifully cubed veggies, but the chilli mushroom was superb, with chunky mushrooms deep fried with a cornflour coat, tossed in a beautifully flavourful Chinese sauce that I loved to my heart, a chicken version is something that I am braving to try here, hopefully soon.
Vegetarians be aware, they used the same oil in which the non-vegetarian starters were fried, for the mushrooms, and the occasional wash and use of a separate wok for tossing vegetarian food is prevalent here, but not consistently as I observed while waiting for my food. So if you are uncomfortable with that, avoid this place. Though they take utmost care to ensure that my vegetarian takeaway is not mixed with other non-vegetarian takeaways. The place was buzzing and with no issues after consuming the food, I would definitely recommend if you are looking for some street style tasty Chinese food. They do have kaati rolls and other bhuna chicken, makkanwala, kasha, and Andhra chicken preparations that looked very interesting that I might try soon, but the Chinese here always looks good and very inviting, maybe I should try a chicken roll soon, meanwhile you try them and share...
