A Serene Birthday Celebration at The Indian Eatery, HRBR Layout
Calm, serene, and surrounded by trees in that quintessential Bangalore weather — it was the perfect setting to celebrate our daughter’s birthday lunch with close friends at The Indian Eatery, HRBR Layout.
Sakina, who runs the place with her son Zaid, embodies warmth and hospitality. Right from the start, they made us feel completely at home. We planned the menu in advance, and Sakina was incredibly helpful, offering thoughtful suggestions that worked beautifully for both adults and kids.
They went the extra mile to ensure that the children had non-spicy options suited to their palates — a small gesture that made a big difference. The malai broccoli was a standout — perfectly cooked and melt-in-the-mouth delicious.
A unique highlight was the Kizhi Biryani — an unexpected treat for a casual lunch. Wrapped neatly in a green plantain leaf pouch and tied with traditional vaazha naaru (banana fibre), it was a visual delight and a gourmet indulgence all at once.
The ambiance was lovely, the staff warm and accommodating, and the food genuinely satisfying. If there's one area for improvement, it would be the service speed — the team seemed slightly overwhelmed managing our group of 22. But given the quality of everything else, it was a minor hiccup in an otherwise memorable afternoon.
Highly recommended for intimate gatherings, especially if you're looking for a space that combines good food with a relaxed, leafy...

It was anything but street style, first time it was too salty and then it was replaced by noodles with no salt. Gave it a second try with some so called loose prawns and Bombay biryani both are mediocre at best. We went at 10:35 and even before handing the menu they say you need to order at once as the kitchen will close and then the manager says Bombay biryani means it will come with potato and chicken but the biryani was received without potato. When we asked the service guy he tells us only Kolkatta biryani will Come with potato and in Bombay they don’t use potato, again when we ask the manager about potato he says oh they did not put potato, they are suppose to put potato and then walks away. The biryani rice feels rough and half Cooked. And then they use your time to ask detail feedback so that they can improve.. I suggest the owner of the restaurant to taste the food and correct the recepies instead of using the customers money and time to...
