Update from Aug 2024: I think something's really off now. It used to be our go to restaurant for BBQ and tasty starters. It all changed now, considering my latest visit, I thought I better update my review because the earlier one is no longer relevant.
The service has become damn slow and the staff were gossiping in a corner while we need to literally raise our hand for atleast a minute to get their attention. The paneer is tasteless, it felt like rubber, probably a couple of days older one.
The Pani Puri and chats, earlier was being served to the table, now it has become live counter. So what's the problem? The person was missing and I needed to wait a good 3 minutes for the guy to call another guy to call another guy and then come back to serve me "bland, tasteless, spiceless, diluted red color water". Even the aloo stuffing was literally half a tea spoon.
The Aloo BBQ was called Achari Aloo, but it tasted like it was dipped in sugar water, it was so sweet.
We have asked for Garlic Naan, the waiter specifically asked if he can get Butter wala Garlic Naan, we said okay sure. We got a Naan which literally had 2 drops of butter exactly at the center that too got absorbed. Thought that we might have made a mistake in asking, we had asked them explicitly and clearly to get us Butter Garlic Naan, when it came we had asked the available "manager" to show us the butter on the Naan. He's got nothing to say. Then he offers me to try another one.
Why waste food when your chef is half asleep in your kitchen?
Then something interesting happens, a waiter comes to me says it's the kitchen that's got problem, we are good in service. I m like what in world you're talking? We come to your restuarant not just for good service but also for the food. Understand and train your waiters to not to differentiate . You all represent your restuarant. Period.
Funny. . A waiter suddenly wakes up and asks if we would need any drinks. Note that by then we're having desserts. As I remember the drinks menu was offered during starters phase.
Bottom-line: My daughter used to love this place but we're not going back .. this was our 5th and final visit!
Older Review: The barbeque is very tasty. Added to that they've outdoor seating in 4th floor. On anyday you'll feel the fresh breeze touching your face. You'll feel real good. The staff is very courteous. They've ensured that my kid got non spicy food, which was specially made for her. Writing this review after 2nd visit. So you trust my words and try this place...
Read moreThe Spice Town, located in RR Nagar, Bangalore, offers a mixed dining experience with highs and lows across its menu and ambiance. Let me start with the highlight—the main course and desserts. Both segments impress with their variety, quality, and taste. Whether it is rotis, naans, or the assortment of desserts, The Spice Town delivers a satisfying culinary experience that balances taste and presentation. However, the Lunch begins on a slightly disappointing note with the barbeque dishes. While the selection is extensive, the execution falls short for some items. The marination tends to be overly spicy without complementing flavors, resulting in an average taste profile. Fortunately, the crispy corn and fish items manage to stand out amidst the mediocrity. Drinks-wise, the Kiwi cooler disappoints with its overly sugary nature, resembling more of a syrup than a refreshing beverage. Service at The Spice Town shines brightly. Staff members are attentive, regularly seeking feedback and ensuring that customers are satisfied. Their willingness to adjust recipes based on customer preferences reflects a commendable dedication to customer satisfaction. Ambiance plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience. The restaurant boasts a pleasant setting with ample space, comfortable seating, and a refreshing breeze, making it conducive to relaxed dining. The interior design further adds to the overall appeal, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Accessibility is another plus point, with valet parking available, ensuring convenience for guests. In terms of logistics, while weekday visits may not necessitate reservations, weekends can be busy, making booking advisable to avoid waiting. In conclusion, The Spice Town offers a commendable dining experience with standout main courses and desserts, complemented by excellent service and a pleasant ambiance. While improvements could elevate the barbeque and...
Read moreLooking for a rooftop barbeque space with classy interiors and exteriors, you are in for a treat at The Spice Town located in RR Nagar. It is a sea change from the traditional single format barbeque restaurants mushroomed across town, with an open to sky seating overlooking the tree laden avenues, with a water feature and a very interesting menu to entice you.
You won't miss the regular favourites like crispy corn, and cajun potatoes, but there is more to explore here on the table as well as on the buffet. The marinade on the panneer was very different and extremely good, and that spice rub on the grilled corn on cob was excellent, the grilled pineapple was a tough competitor to the mushrooms over the grill.
The buffet menu was extremely well thought out with a wide range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian spread that satiates the Indian and Desi Chinese craving palette. I absolutely loved the dal with rice and the soya biryani, the hakka noodles was equally fantastic. The Bhindi salad was well made but a bit too salty for my preference.
The desserts were a bit more classy, with the strawberry cheesecake and pineapple pastry stealing the show with the brownie that unfortunately was a bit too dry. The mini jamuns were made to perfection and the carrot cake was nice, and there is a choice of 8+ icecreams to indulge.
Overall a great meal spread over the grill, on the table and at the buffet, with a special mention to the attentive service that is always welcomed. Do head to this classy venue for a lazy weekend brunch and come back with loads of pictures for your gram, I am sure you will not be disappointed with the food...
