Out n Beyond Cafe & Bistro — Restaurant in Bidhannagar

To start with, the place is quite beautiful and photogenic. There are beautiful photo corners with perfect lighting. I also found the inner room to be quite aesthetic and beautiful with the mirrored wall.

However, when you are going to a cafe, it's important that the food and drinks feel as great as the place. I won't say that me and my partner did not enjoy the Barbecue Chicken Pizza, Latte, and Iced Cranberricano, but there's certainly room for much improvement; especially when you decide on a pricing strategy that's almost equal to Barista, CCD, or any top-rated Italian cafe.

The first issue that I faced was that I wasn't provided regular water even when I specifically requested for it. I was asked to take the sealed bottled mineral water, which happens to be charged at ₹40 per bottle. I know that the MRP mentioned on the bottle is ₹60, however, I did not ask for mineral water. I was forced to opt for that since you did not have option of regular water at your cafe. That's not the norm even at 4-star or 5-star hotels (I have dined at those places, so speaking from experience).

The food was decently good. The pizza base was well baked and had ample cheese and chicken, with the taste quite good. The cheese felt genuinely like Mozzarella, unlike quite a few other places where they use low-grade processed cheese. But the Latte failed to be up to the mark. It was a decent coffee at most, not something for which I will be willing to come back again. The Iced Cranberricano did not have a single mint leaf. The quality isn't quite a lot either, mostly enhanced with the help of about 6-8 ice cubes. The taste is fine, but when you are having an image of the drink with mint leaves on your menu, make sure that you are serving the same.

Finally, the bill came with 5% "Service Charge" added at the end. I did not ask for it to be removed, however, this is not an ethical practice, especially when it is not mentioned clearly in the digital menu. It's entirely up to the guest whether or not to provide any tip for the service being provided and I would have been well within my rights to have asked for it to be removed. Especially when all we ordered are one pizza and two drinks, none of which needed any special service to be provided besides being brought to the table from the kitchen. As a matter of fact, I have found very few cafes, restaurants, or pubs during my extensive visits to these places over the years wherein service charge is levied, and never without being intimidated about it, at least via the menu.

Overall, "Out n Beyond" seemed like a place I might or might not revisit. Simply the ambience isn't everything if your quality of food and drinks does not justify the rates. Cost for 2 will be ₹1500 - ₹2000

We have tried various dishes over here:

Beer Battered Bhetki - very crispy and absolutely no oil and superbly tasty. Chicken Ala Kiev - the best Ala Kiev we have ever tasted in town. Mixed Non-veg Fried Rice - full of egg, chicken and prawns and it tastes awesome. Enough for 1 serve but less for 2 serves. Chilli Chicken - the mixture of the sauces are perfect without over empowering the taste of each other and very well balanced. The chicken was juicy and the dish was sumptuous for 2 person. Spicy Prawn Sizzler - spicy and it tastes yummy. This is actually a good choice for fish lovers. Enough for 1 serve. Smokey Tangdi Chicken Sizzler - This is mainly a big size Tandoori chicken Sizzler. Again very well balanced and superbly presented with fries, tossed veggies and rice. Enough for 1 serve. Oven Roasted Chicken Drumstick - The chicken was tender and well coated with spices which makes it a stand out among other chicken dishes. Roasted Hazelnut Frappe - Smooth and well balanced Crunchy Frappe - This one too tasted perfect with lots of munching and crunching elements. Gondhoraj Mojito On The Rocks - In one word excellent idea to make Gandhoraj lemon 🍋 the hero of the mojito. Watermelon Mojito On The Rocks - Very refreshing and balanced.

In short, all the dishes we have tasted there is just mind blowing and absolutely live the innovations they have made. The price is on a higher note but it justifies the quality of food they serve. So no complaints made on the price as it's worth. The service is quite prompt and they have a gorup of very well behaved staff. Gen Z will find this place very cool and instagram friendly. They have a cute book rack for the book lovers to indulge in. Keep up the good work ONB!! Cheers!!!
