Café 82 — Restaurant in Bidhannagar

It is raining cafes in town and Salt Lake is no exception. Every block corners or houses beside main roads are sporting cafes these days - some got featured in several vlogs as well. But, the moot question is - are these cafes in the same league as Starbucks or Barista? What differentiates them from the rest?

I have come across Cafe 82 several times while going around in Salt Lake, and the exterior is excellent and eye catching. So, decided to visit this place in search for something new.

Although, the Cafe 82 looks like a two storied white mansion from outside, the cafe actually is of relatively small size with around 6-7 tables. I think the large part of the floor space was taken up by the Salon and Spa which goes by the name of Salon 82.

The seating area was cozy nonetheless. The decor was not that interesting. Lack of false ceiling exposed all the AC channels which did not look great either.

Lets get to the food then. We ordered Cappuccino, Iced Latte, and Cheese Garlic Bread.

Capuccino came out colder than expected. It was not piping hot. The waiter blamed it on the AC. If it was already prepared and was sitting under the AC, not sure why it was not served earlier. We asked the coffee to be served without waiting for the food.

Iced Latte. If you simply search for Iced Latte recipes, you will see that it is a double shot of espresso dissolved with sugar or honey, added to loads of ice, and whole milk is poured over it. Stirred to dissolve. The thing that we got served is a toned milk i.e. without any fat to give it a body, a faint hint of coffee rather than a double espresso with no ice but cold. So, it came out like watered down milkshake. I was not sure what went wrong but it seemed that there was a lack of proper training. When I called the person who prepared it and explained the actual procedure, he seemed completely lost.

Cheese Garlic Bread. Usual. Nothing extraordinary. Baguette bread slices topped with parsley and cheese with faint hint of garlic.

Now, the place has some glorious reviews which are confusing me even more on what went wrong. I can set aside the food part as most of the cafes are not renowned for their food. But, the coffee part cannot be overlooked. Hoping that they will train their staff in the correct processes, use correct ingredients etc....

Must try. ✅️🍫🥤6)Chocolate Shake:Rich creamy Chocolate Shake topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup and colorful sprinkles. ✅️🫐🥤7)Loaded Blueberry Milkshake:Fresh blended Blueberry with creamy milk and oreo topped with cream wow. ✅️🍧8)Brownie With Ice cream:Soft moist fresh baked chocolate Brownie with cool vanilla ice cream topped with dry fruits 😋 . The blend of hot and cold totally drooling. ✅️🍟9)Peri Peri Fries: Spicy Crispy French fries and the Cheesey mayo dip 😋. Must try.

Apart from the Wonderful ambience,every food item was so fresh and great in quality. Friendly staff and a little library along with it to spend some quality time there. So just be there and enjoy.
