During my recent visit to Pashtun restaurant located at Ellante Mall in Chandigarh, I opted for their buffet dinner. The ambience of the restaurant was pleasing and created a nice atmosphere for a dining experience. The food served was indeed delicious, and the variety offered was commendable. However, there are areas where the restaurant can improve, particularly in terms of service, ambience, and food selection. The staff at Pashtun were polite and humble, which added to the overall pleasant experience. The buffet pricing was reasonable, with the vegetarian option costing around ₹550/- per person and the non-vegetarian option priced at ₹650/- per person. The restaurant boasted a wide range of food options; however, it was disappointing to note that no snacks were provided as part of the buffet. On an evening, as I explored the mall, my hunger led me to Pashtun. I was looking for a buffet but didn't want to spend a significant amount, so I opted for this restaurant instead of Pirates of the Grill. The ambience of Pashtun was quaint, blending traditional elements with a modern touch. The menu displayed outside the restaurant seemed enticing and suitable for my dinner plans. I decided to try the Non-Veg Buffet priced at ₹650 + tax. The menu, as expected at this price range, was somewhat limited. It included one chicken item, one mutton item, four veg items, rice, bread, and an assortment of salads, chaat, rotis, and other breads available on demand. While the naan was particularly good, the overall food quality was average, with nothing extraordinary to mention. One aspect that could be improved is the ambience during my visit. As I was the only customer at that time, it felt a bit awkward, especially with the servers gossiping among themselves. This affected the overall dining experience and made it challenging to relax and enjoy the meal fully. In terms of recommendations, I would suggest Pashtun work on enhancing their service, ensuring that the staff remains attentive to the needs of the customers. The ambience could be further improved to create a more inviting and comfortable atmosphere for diners. Additionally, expanding the food selection, including snacks, would be a valuable addition to the buffet offering. In conclusion, Pashtun at Ellante Mall offers a reasonable option for those on a budget or seeking an alternative to a full-fledged buffet. The food, while average in taste, does have some standout items, such as the delicious naan. However, improvements in service, ambience, and food selection would elevate the dining experience and make Pashtun a more attractive choice for guests. Overall, if you are looking for an affordable dining option with friends or a casual date, Pashtun can be considered. It provides a decent experience, taking into account its pricing and the...
Read moreOn a Wednesday evening, after spending what seems like an eternity in the mall, huger beckoned with vigour. I wanted to go for a buffet but wasn't hungry enough to spend ₹1000+ on it, so Pirates of the Grill was outside the agenda. Pashtun is situated nearby POTG, in the corner of the same alley. It's a quaint, traditional-looking, but modern restaurant and the placard outside marketing its prices & menu seemed good enough for the day's dinner.
I opted for the Non-Veg Buffet at ₹459 + tax.
The menu was limited, as expected at this price range. One chicken item, one mutton item. Four veg items. Rice. Bread. An assortment of salads, chaat, rotis and other breads on demand.
The ambience was good, but I was the only customer at that time, so it was a bit awkward, especially since the servers kept gossiping among themselves.
So, about the food: the food was average; nothing to write about. The naan was really good. But, the rest is above average.
And, the bad: nothing was really bad, except the restaurant being empty and the staff gossiping among themselves did make me more self-conscious and unable to relax during the meals.
Would I recommend it? That depends. If you are on a budget, or simply don't have the stomach space for a full-fledged buffet of POTG, and are with friends, definitely go here. Give it a try. This can also be a good place to...
Read moreOnce upon a time, Pashtun (formerly known as Khyber) was a legend. After a court case, much of their thunder has been stolen and though the North Indian/NorthWest Frontier Province food is still perfectly adequate, the cramped restaurant with a gigantic artificial tree in the centre, looks too jaded to stand up and be counted as the Tricity's best restaurants. If you do visit, try their kebabs. And be warned that the main courses are made from three readymade gravies ready prepared in the kitchen. The crowd that make it a point to visit Khyber do so mainly for nostalgia value
Pashtun is one of the most sought after Indian restaurants in the city. It has rustic interiors, with a gigantic artificial tree placed in the centre and wooden furniture all around. Its extensive menu of north Indian cuisine includes a variety of biryanis, kababs and vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries. Ideal for meat lovers, its specialities include sikandari raan, seekh kabab and murg malai tangri. The restaurant also offers platters for lunch. The drinks menu features a wide range of spirits, wines and ales. Head to Pashtun when you’re craving for a rich Mughlai meal, and you won’t be...
