I recently dined at this authentic North Indian restaurant, and it was an extraordinary culinary experience that truly captured the essence of traditional flavors. From the diverse menu to the warm ambiance, everything was spot-on for a delightful evening. You have to wait a bit for your turn but it is worth the wait.

The atmosphere is both cozy and elegant, making it ideal for family dinners or intimate gatherings. Place had a charming touch, enhancing the cultural vibe.

Vegetarian Kebab Platter: The vegetarian kebab platter was a delightful assortment of smoky, well-seasoned kebabs. Each bite was bursting with flavors, from the soft paneer tikka to the crispy hara bhara kebabs. The char-grilled texture and subtle spices really brought out the authenticity of the dish, making it a must-try for vegetarians.

Chicken Trio: The Chicken Trio was a star of the night, featuring three distinct chicken preparations that each told a different flavor story. The creamy malai chicken was tender and rich, while the tandoori chicken was perfectly spiced with a smoky undertone. The third variation, a spicier tikka, packed just the right heat and flavor balance. This dish truly showcased the restaurant’s mastery of traditional Indian cooking techniques.

Masala Papad: As a starter, the masala papad was a crispy, flavorful treat with fresh toppings of onions, tomatoes, and cilantro, sprinkled with tangy chaat masala. It was a perfect, light appetizer to set the tone for the meal.

Mango Citrus Punch: For drinks, I opted for the Mango Citrus Punch, which was refreshing and tangy. The blend of mango with a citrusy twist provided a sweet yet zesty balance, working well as a palate cleanser between the spicier dishes.

Phirni: The Phirni was absolutely divine. This creamy rice-based dessert was delicately flavored with cardamom and topped with a sprinkle of crushed pistachios. Its texture was smooth and rich, making it the perfect sweet conclusion to a hearty meal.

Kesar Pista Kulfi & Paan Kulfi: I also tried both the Kesar Pista and Paan Kulfi. The Kesar Pista Kulfi was creamy with hints of saffron and crunchy pistachios, offering a luxurious taste. The Paan Kulfi, on the other hand, was an interesting and refreshing twist, capturing the distinct flavors of paan (betel leaf) without being overwhelming. Both were beautifully served and presented a delightful contrast in flavor profiles.

The service was top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful suggestions. They ensured that each dish arrived at the perfect time, and their enthusiasm for the food was contagious.

This restaurant is a gem for anyone looking to experience authentic North Indian cuisine. From the perfectly spiced kebabs and flavorful chicken trio to the indulgent desserts, every aspect of the meal was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. With its welcoming ambiance and attentive service, this is a place I’d highly recommend for both casual dining and special occasions.

Title: A Culinary Legacy at Daryaganj - The Birthplace of Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Daryaganj, situated within the bustling Mall of India in Sector 18, Noida, is not just a restaurant; it's a living testament to the history and legacy of North Indian cuisine. As the birthplace of Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani, Daryaganj holds a special place in the hearts of food enthusiasts, offering a delicious blend of tradition and innovation.

History and Legacy: Daryaganj's legacy harks back to the post-independence era, specifically 1947, when the culinary landscape of India was forever changed. This restaurant is the brainchild of the culinary pioneers who invented two of the most beloved dishes in Indian cuisine: Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani. The founders' passion for preserving and evolving the flavors of North India's culinary heritage gave birth to this iconic establishment.

The Culinary Journey: Our regular order at Daryaganj encapsulates the essence of what makes this restaurant special. The Chicken Tikka is a mouthwatering symphony of spices and perfectly grilled chicken, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. Pairing it with Khasta Roti, a delightful creation with its crispy layers, adds a textural contrast that elevates the experience.

However, the true star of the show is the Original Butter Chicken (1947). This dish, created from a closely guarded family recipe, encapsulates decades of culinary expertise. The velvety tomato-based gravy, infused with aromatic spices, envelops tender chicken pieces, creating a flavor explosion that dances on the taste buds.

The Only Shortcoming: Despite the culinary excellence on offer, there is one caveat that stands out, particularly on weekend evenings: the waiting time. Daryaganj's well-deserved popularity often results in lengthy queues, which can be a test of patience. It's our fervent hope that the restaurant authorities will consider implementing strategies to alleviate this concern, ensuring that patrons can enjoy their meals without the extended wait.

In conclusion, Daryaganj at Mall of India, Noida, is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary institution. Its rich history and the legacy of inventing iconic dishes like Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani make it a must-visit for food connoisseurs. While the waiting time can be a drawback, the gastronomic journey offered here is an unforgettable experience that pays homage to the timeless flavors of...

For a Sunday lunch, I decided to visit Daryanganj in DLF Mall of India, Noida as it was another restaurant I had on my wishlist. As expected, we had to wait around 15-20min to get a seat (it was 2.30 PM). Finally, after the wait, me and my family were seated down. The menu they provided was very educational (not kidding!). For example; they want you to understand the difference between the original butter chicken recipe and the one you get worldwide. Also, some facts here and there, which were very interesting. So, here’s what we ordered: Chicken Trio A platter of Chicken Tikka, Malai Tikka and spice Bhatti Chicken The platter had 2 pieces of the starters each. All of them were great! I loved Bhatti Chicken the most. A recommended platter here as you get to taste 3 different types of chicken starters in one go. The Original 1947 Butter Chicken With some Tandoori Rotis Here we are with the OG! This is what I love about the actual butter chicken. The gravy was not creamy or smooth, it was a bit coarse & thick, just how I like it. The chicken pieces were of tandoori chicken with bone, not the boiled ones which I’ve had a LOT of the places (not just in Delhi but other places too). And the best part of all, the gravy wasn’t sweet! It was a bit tangy & savoury, which is like the best flavour for butter chicken. All in all, I loved it. And now I’m definitely going to visit this place again just to have it! Mutton Yakhni Pulao Overall, the pulao was ok but the mutton pieces were actually good. Nothing extraordinary as such though. Virgin Mojito, Aam Panna & Jaljeera The drinks were good. I ordered Jaljeera for myself and it was just like golgappe wala paani (check the pic below) but it was nice to have along with such a heavy meal. The service was good here. Even though the place was crowded, I don’t think any dish or drink was served late here. The server had mentioned to us as soon as he took our order, that it would take around 20-25 min for the food to be served and it was right on time!
