Bercos Disappoints Big Time Once upon a time Bercos was our go-to place for fancy Asian dining and then fancier Asian restaurants came to town…. After a long time we decided to go to our campus area in North Delhi’s Kamla Nagar and had sort of a reunion with school and college friends. The road and market were choc-a-block with cars and weekend crowd. Bercos was all empty with just one table that had diners. We thought it was our lucky evening but soon we realized why. We went through their extensive menu and decided on some food items and beer. Sadly, when the waiter came to take the order, none of the beer brands we choose from their menu were available. It was the same experience with food items. Whatever we wanted to order they said was not available. We continued choosing alternative items and settled for Mahou beer (they have all day happy hours and that’s the only saving grace) a tom yum soup, and fried vegetarian dimsums with sweet chili sauce. This was just the entree and when we ordered, much to our shock the server asked “Bus itnaa hi?” (“Is that all?”) We thought he did not want us to order more. The attitude was rather unpleasant. We were deciding on main course but immediately dropped the idea. After this odd experience, it is pointless to review the food. But for whatever it’s worth, it was the worst Tom Yum soup we have ever had. Tangy to the point of bitterness, this tasted weird. Fried dumplings were alright. But, we could see why this place has so few takers even on a Friday evening despite the fact that the restaurant is located at such a hot hep and...
Read moreI had an average experience at this location of Bercos. While the food tasted just fine, the service by Mr. Akash was prompt and good. Only Mr. Akash had knowledge of the items on the menu, while the others were just clueless, which was shocking and disappointing at the same time.
Talking about the food, I hated the Hakka Noodles which I ordered. They were extremely oily, and I had to ask them to take them back. I ordered Spinach and Corn dim sums as mentioned on the menu; once served, they also had cheese in them. They should at least inform or mention on the menu that it comes with cheese, too; I didn't like those at all. The Paneer in Paneer Chilli (Gravy) was absolutely dry. From all the Berco's locations I have tried around Delhi over the years, I am sorry to say, this one disappointed me the most. I have never heard of or tried any Asian restaurant being this oily. With their pricing, they should work on the quality of food and the flavors they are serving. Apart from that, I tried the Watermelon Mojito with Veg fried rice, American Choupsey and Nutty Brownie with Vanilla Ice cream in the end, which were good after all. About the ambience, they really had some random songs playing on loud volume which I do not expect if they are trying to make this a fine dine in asian restaurant.
(All of my words above are based on trying different Asian restaurants around the world, not just in India, and trying almost all...
Read moreI have visited Berco's several times(but only the Connaught Place outlet and that use to be all time-favourite restaurant) however my visit at this outlet was not a very pleasant one. Visited this place for dinner and we took the meal for two offer that was going on. In soup we went with chicken wonton soup which was a decent clear chicken soup. Moving down to the main course we tried Chicken Kunchao which tasted really bad. The chicken was very hard and bad in taste and lacked flavors. Most of all my friend felt uneasy immediately after eating that(later turned out to be a case of minor food poisoning). In main course we went with chicken hakka noodles and kung pao chicken. The noodles were okay but the kung pao again was a disappointment. In desserts we tried darshans with vanilla ice-cream which was good and the only thing I enjoyed. On the whole I would not...
