Big Yellow Door — Restaurant in Delhi

BYD is definitely the better ones in Hudson alane and also one of the debutantes...

I remember going there some couple of years back on a rainy valentine's day to find it absolutely packed... I thought to myself what is the big deal here... As in a place that serves nachos and burgers, how can it be so madly crowded.... I wanted to find my answer and hence waited for my turn... Once inside, I knew what is it that pulls people here... The vibes, the food, the service and a chique menu...

Many years later, I went to the new second floor cafe, by the same name.... I still had my apprehensions because there are many new players in the market now.... But again I find it packed... No matter if it's perched on the second floor... No matter if there is no lift... No matter if you find four legged friends on the way... What greets is the same old cheery vibe, quirky interiors and a hospitable staff...

As I sat soaking in the beautiful decor, my order arrived... I ordered their loaded baked nachos and oh buoy! They were actually loaded.... The salsa served alongside spoke volumes about the quality of ingredients used....

Next was theCheese Chilli Fries which again were well made and were thankfully not limp... The grilled fish with lemon butter sauce was the softest and freshest we ever ordered....the pasta again was al dente and full of Flavours....

The star however had to be the watermelon mojito... Served in halved melon, it was just the way it should be.... With all the flavours well balanced and nothing over the top....

Once again, BYD made me fall in.love...

I have visited many cafe's in GTB as well as CP, I'd say that this was the worst of all. • If you want to visit any of the BYDs, your only reason should be either all other cafes in the area are closed or you have a least budget(for which again, you can fins way better cafe's). • We ordered white sauce pasta, cheesy fries and all veggies pizza. The pasta sauce was an abomination and I quote another customer there "ye kya sad sa pasta serve kia hai aap logo ne". • Fries were okay. Nothing more. And I'd be safe in saying the pizza looked absolutely dead, and again tasted okay. • Coming to the drinks, we ordered 3. The milk based drinks were pathetic. How can a chef not know how to make a cold coffee?? They need to make their concepts clear as they messed up all the drinks assuming they were smoothies. The drinks had huge amount of grinded ice and absolutely no flavour. We had to send back 2 of the drinks and the replacement was 3 percent better than the previous one. And when we pointed out the drink issue the waiters were bold enough to say it wasn't the case, and there was no ice in it. And when asked to taste, they backed out. Never going...

This was the second time i was visiting this place. And I am really happy to write a review for them. I love the ambiance. They have some really good interiors done, the music was amazing and had small small beautiful things put to make it even more beautiful.

This is one of the very few restaurants that has an electronic button box on each table that allows me to call for water/ order/ bill on the push of a button which is nice.

Coming to the food quality - its definitely amazing. I ordered the BYD Burger, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Pizza, Oreo Shake, Mushroom Mexicana and a mix sauce pasta. All of them were really really tasty and in good enough quantity.

BUT, A single thing that bothers me, the service here is quite slow, though call button is available, it's better to call them personally if you don't want to be left hanging.

But in the end, I am definitely going here when I visit GTB next, hoping for better than already such great experience I had.
