Extremely Unhygienic Behind a Polished Front – Evergreen Bakery Needs a Serious Inspection

I recently visited Evergreen Bakery to buy a cake. At first glance, the shop looks well-maintained and professionally set up. The staff at the counter were polite and helpful — no complaints there.

But what lies behind the scenes is absolutely shocking. I happened to go upstairs, where the cakes are actually made — and it was filthy beyond imagination. It looked like the area hadn’t been cleaned in months. There was thick grime, mold, and even rust on the machines. The air smelled rotten. Walls were stained with old moisture and black fungus. Rats were freely moving around, and flies hovered over exposed ingredients.

Even more concerning — the ingredients used were cheap, unbranded, and highly questionable. The food colors being used didn’t even look food-grade — they appeared synthetic and unsafe. No branded cream, no labeled packaging — just shady local stuff being used to make cakes that people, including children, consume.

And if that wasn’t enough, the workers making the cakes were walking around in just vests and shorts (banian-chaddi) — absolutely no hygiene gear, no gloves, no hairnets, no aprons. It was deeply unprofessional and outright disgusting.

The cake I had bought tasted awful — stale, low-quality, and clearly not made with any standard. Once I saw how it was being made, I left the cake right there and walked out.

Evergreen Bakery is a health hazard hiding behind a fancy shopfront. It’s deceiving customers with its clean display while preparing food in shockingly unhygienic and unsafe conditions.

I strongly urge health authorities to inspect this place, and I warn customers: do not fall for the appearance — avoid this bakery...

I had a very disappointing experience with the staff at Evergreen Pastry Shop, Mayur Vihar on 24th May, Friday. The staff was extremely rude and ill-mannered. Despite being a long-time customer, I was treated as if I had ordered the cake without permission. The behavior of the staff was exceptionally poor.

Initially, the price of the cake was quoted to me as 1100, but the next day, a staff member accused me of lying in a threatening tone. A male staff member even shouted at me with harsh words over the phone and declared they would not fulfill my order.

Such rudeness is unacceptable. When I insisted to speak with the owner, my request was outright denied. If the management cannot ensure customer satisfaction, they should consider closing the shop. It is evident they have no control over...
