This place opened not long ago (May '17, I guess), and I'm usually sceptic of new places to eat. But a friend and a fellow foodie whose opinion I respect in matters like these insisted that I give this place a chance. So we went and had shawarma and falafel platter(3 per) for dinner, since there were 3 of us and know this - we all had missed lunch at hostel mess. And in spite of the food being so damn tasty we couldn't finish it all, the owner was kind enough to get the remainder packed for us.
The owner is a Syrian gentleman from Damascus, bringing to us Indians the real authentic flavours of Middle Eastern cuisine that you can't find at other copycat Arab cuisine restaurants owned by Indians. And what a nice, humble and decent guy he is! I pray that peace returns in his country.
P.S : this place is more than just about non-veg dishes, don't miss out on sweet dishes, I had one, looked pretty, was really tasty, but I forgot to ask the name...
Read moreHaving been eaten Arabic cuisine for years, I would say the food here does not taste any close to the real Arabic food. This is the second time I tried my luck and disappointed me. The Kabsa meal I ordered which costed a whopping ₹450 (which is "whopping" because of the inferior quality and quantity) tasted simply like a tomato rice. The actual Kabsa is way different in flavour. They took so much time to serve, yet the food was not hot enough. The shawarma is not authentic as they advertise... french fries, greens and pickle usually present in real shawarmas are not present in this one; rather, its dry.
Other than that, there is a Arabic atmosphere inside, it's clean and the staff is also good. They also have certain Arabic sweets, olive oil, tahini, and certain tin foods common in Arab...
Read moreWe planned to go to a Syrian restaurant for dinner, but we had trouble finding the exact location. We even called the restaurant for confirmation, and they shared a location with us — unfortunately, it turned out to be incorrect. We ended up roaming around for almost two hours trying to find the place. Eventually, we found it by searching online ourselves, since we were already set on dining there.
As for the food, it was quite oily and heavily spiced with Arabic flavors — the taste was just okay. The atmosphere of the restaurant was average, not many people were around, and it seemed more like a hotel with a restaurant setup. Overall, we felt it wasn’t worth the effort or the price for the...
