A Deeply Disappointing Experience at Bihar Sadan
Our dining experience at Bihar Sadan was nothing short of appalling and left us completely disillusioned. What was expected to be a showcase of Bihar’s culinary heritage turned out to be a series of basic service failures and substandard food, all at an unreasonably high price.
It began with the Shikanji — instead of a freshly prepared, refreshing beverage, we were served a bland concoction made by simply diluting a ready-made pouch in water. It was served at room temperature, without any chill, making it completely unpalatable. We had to ask for ice cubes just to make it remotely drinkable — a basic expectation in any dining facility, let alone one run under a state guest house.
Things only got worse. We ordered chicken next, which was at best mediocre — lacking any distinctive taste or freshness. However, the real disappointment came with the Handi Mutton. Priced at ₹700 for just four small pieces, we expected a premium dish. To our utter disbelief, it was served cold — not lukewarm, but outright chilled. It is difficult to comprehend how any professional kitchen could justify serving cold mutton. We had to return it and request it be properly reheated — an avoidable and frankly humiliating experience.
Trying to salvage the evening, we ordered Sabudana Vada. Unfortunately, it too was a letdown — drenched in oil, without any chutney or side accompaniment. Not a single item was served thoughtfully; for everything — ice, reheating, basic sides — we had to repeatedly ask, as if we were at their mercy.
What made this even more unacceptable was the exorbitant pricing. For just three people, the total bill came to around ₹3,000 — an amount that would be justifiable only if the food and service met even basic hospitality standards, which they did not.
In summary, the food was subpar, the service inattentive, and the pricing unjustified. For an establishment that carries the name and cultural pride of Bihar, this experience was deeply disappointing and embarrassing. We urge the authorities to take this feedback seriously and urgently revamp the kitchen, staff training, and service quality — because in its current state, Bihar Sadan’s dining facility does more harm than good to the image it is...
Read moreI had the worst dining experience at Bihar Se restaurant in Dwarka. This place is an absolute disgrace to the rich and diverse cuisine of Bihar. They have no understanding of authentic Bihari flavors and are simply cashing in on the trend of Litti Chokha and Champaran Mutton that has gained popularity across Delhi.
False Advertising & Deceptive Practices We ordered both Veg & Non-Veg Thalis, only to be told that they don’t serve Thalis on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays—a fact that wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu. We were forced to order à la carte, even though Thalis were listed on the menu. When we inquired about authentic Bihari dishes like elephant foot yam sabzi, they simply didn’t have it.
Dishonest Service & Substandard Food After complaining to the restaurant manager, he assured us he could prepare Thalis in 25 minutes. We appreciated the gesture and agreed. Shockingly, the food arrived in just 10 minutes, which immediately raised suspicion. Worse, the Thali did not match the items listed in their menu. When we questioned the server, he bluntly told us that they change the menu without notice and that we had to eat whatever was served. The food was cold, tasteless, and of extremely poor quality—nowhere close to authentic Bihari cuisine.
Unhygienic & Disgusting Practices The restaurant’s hygiene standards are appalling. I personally witnessed staff not cleaning tables after guests left. The same dirty table was left as it was for the next customers, which was disgusting to watch. If they can be this careless about basic cleanliness, I can only imagine the state of their kitchen.
My Recommendation: Avoid at All Costs This restaurant is a scam, capitalizing on Bihar’s name while serving below-average, tasteless food. They are deceptive, unhygienic, and have no respect for authentic Bihari cuisine. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to stay away from this place. It’s just another money-making gimmick with zero quality or...
Read moreRUDE AND ILL-MANNERED STAFF.Attention! all Biharis friend. I am writing this detailed review from Bihar Sadan itself. have been staying here with my family since last 6 days. I visited Delhi to see a doctor with my ailing mother. she had to take medicines and for that one has to eat on time. whenever we used to order food from 'Bihar se..' food would come after a delay of one to two hours. First I ignored it thinking that may be due to festivals staff capacity would be lesser as compared to normal times. But when this happened repeatedly I went to enquire about this with the manager. But to my shock he started arguing with me. when I said that I will complain about this to higher authorities then he completely lost it. he said, "DHAMKI MAT DO JO KARNA HAI KARO, MERA KUCH BHI NAHI BIGAAR PAOGE." Just because one has named his restaurant "Bihar se.." considering the huge presence of Bihari population in Delhi and especially in Dwarka does not guarantees a good behaviour to fellow human being from its staff. People come here because of open and comfortable space which is provided by the government of Bihar to this restaurant because Bihar Sadan is a government...
