Bercos is a popular Chinese restaurant series in India. They have myriad branches and there is a big chance you have one in you own city. The one which I visited is Bercos, indirapuram habitat centre.
Ambience – Interestingly, every Bercos has a totally different ambience. It is like as if the franchiser has little to no interest in keeping the ambience same across different branches. It is not bad but there is nothing special too. There was no Chinese music being played in background. And it doesn’t matter if you favor food’s taste more than exorbitant ambience. Seats were comfortable. Nice.
Who should go here? If you are a lover of Chinese food and want to eat a lot without ending up paying too much. Food is not that expensive and you get decent dining experience.
Food – I ordered dumplings, chicken drumsticks ,chicken fried rice, kung pao chicken and singapuri noodles. The quantity of food was amazing and so was the taste. Good amount of noodles and chicken along with perfect sauce made it tasty.
kung pao was cooked perfectly. It melted in my mouth which means it was cooked in right manner. Many outlets overcook them, making it taste godly.
noodles were perfect too. Quantity is enormous for two. You need not order anything else. You would be wasting food otherwise.
Yays: Good location, perfect food, inexpensive, good seats Nays: slow service, low staff for...
Read moreThis outlet of Bercos does not maintain the brand value. First of all there is a waiting time to get your turn even when there are seats available inside. The service is very slow. By the time you enter, order your food and food gets served you will feel like leaving the place. We had a very bad experience in terms of the quality and hygiene of the food. In the first bite itself some sharp metal objects got stuck in my mouth and started pinching. Somehow I was able to remove this but my finger got hurt as you can see in the pictures attached. I reported this to the staff and he took the piece of metal inside and came up with the standard answer. "We are sorry for this and are going to replace your order." We refused to place the replacement order and decided to move out from there without having food. Now the point is if some part of the sharp metal objects could go in the intestine what would happen? I reported this to the Restaurant Manager as well silently outside the restaurant so that other customers should not get disturbed. He was apologetic. I strongly suggest to have proper investigation and due diligence before the order gets delivered at the table. Such a casual approach towards maintaining the quality and hygiene of food is disastrous.

2). I asked that my leftover 5-spice chicken be packed for takeaway. To my surprise, the quantity that was packed felt almost half of the quantity that was leftover on the table. I mean obviously you can see and you can feel the difference in weight of the service bowl and the packaged bowl.
I wouldn never have expected this from any Berco's outlet in Delhi, but maybe this is a routine habit in this outlet- Pretty cheap act!
3). Again, with hardly 3 tables occupied, we received an incorrect bill for 6 items worth 3300/-. Now, because I have been visiting Berco's since over a decade, I have a fairly good idea of the prices and bill beforehand. I knew just by looking at the amount that the bill was wrong. But the question is, how could the staff of more than 10 people (standing idle btw) get the bill wrong? Of course they corrected it AFTER I pointed out the blatant error.
Bottomline - I think this Berco's is hardly making profit, maybe due to poor footfall or whatever. But I am sure they are desperately trying to cut corners by deploying cheap tricks and lame...
