My recent stay at Nalanda Retreat for a meditation retreat was nothing short of blissful, and one of the highlights of the entire experience was the Chia Lounge, a charming restaurant nestled right in front of the ocean.
From the moment you step into the lounge, you are greeted by an atmosphere of serenity and calmness, perfectly complementing the overall ambiance of Nalanda Retreat. The open-air setting allows for an uninterrupted view of the mesmerizing ocean, creating a backdrop that is both invigorating and calming.
The menu at Chia Lounge is a culinary journey in itself, offering a diverse range of dishes that cater to various tastes and preferences. The freshness of the ingredients is evident in every bite, and the chefs' dedication to quality is commendable. Whether you are a fan of seafood, vegetarian delights, or international cuisines, Chia Lounge has something to satisfy every palate.
A must visit if you are in the area and are looking for great food and serene views of the ocean. Don't forget to have the complimentary ginger lemon tree at the entrance :) Simple and...
Read moreWe stayed at Nalanda Retreat and the Chia Lounge is next to the Retreat. We didn’t have breakfast there, but dined at Chia nearly every evening. The menu card is not that big - but we nearly tasted every single dish on the menu. Honesty I love cooking by myself and I would say I’m really picky 😉 every dish was perfectly and well balanced spiced - even they told us, if we would like something to eat, not listed on the menu, they cook it - so, we tried this out, too. It wasn’t a surprise that this dish was awesome, too! The staffs are very kind and the supervisor Om, a very kind hearted man. Normally I don’t like to be nearly every day in the same restaurant - we tried two other places - but our tongue, our stomachs and hearts are belonging to Chia Lounge - sunset, sundown, any time perfect place to unwind...

we practiced in the beach shala. we had a beautiful view of the beach from the shala
as part of the training package, we ate at the restaurant. they served vegetarian food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. they also offered ginger tea and chai throughout the day. i found the food yummy and nourishing. the only thing is that there is never enough roti during meals— they are so popular :) filtered water is offered at the shala and at the restaurant. bring a water bottle so you don’t have to run around with cups.
overall, everyone was kind, welcoming, and accommodating. i would come...
