Read moreDuring our recent visit to Dunes, a gathering of 15 mixed German and Indian friends looked forward to a dining experience we hoped would echo the high praises sung by those among us who had frequented the establishment weekly for years. Sadly, our anticipation was met with an experience so dismal it falls beneath the lowest rating.
Upon our arrival, with spirits high and eager for a pleasant evening, we encountered a service team whose disdain for hospitality could scarcely be believed. The lower terrace offered ample seating, prompting us to combine tables and request additional chairs to accommodate our group. This reasonable request was met with refusal by a waiter, whose rationale, if any, was lost on us. His subsequent behavior—snatching menus from our hands and petulantly retreating to the bar, only to ignore us further—was baffling and unprofessional.
The situation escalated when a friend approached the bar in an attempt to resolve the misunderstanding, only to be met with vitriol that was as shocking as it was unwarranted. Our appeal to the manager, highlighting our status as longtime patrons, was dismissed with indifference. His assertion that our loyalty was of no consequence, as he had no shortage of customers, underscored a profound disregard for customer service.
This encounter not only marred our evening but also exposed a troubling lack of respect for patrons—a fundamental flaw for any service-oriented business. Dunes, unfortunately, showcased a level of contempt and unprofessionalism that no guest should ever endure. Our experience stands as a stark warning to others: a place where service and decency are so thoroughly absent cannot be...
Read moreI have visited this place twice for Dinner and not for staying. So my comment is only about the restaurant.
The restaurant is located near its own beach, built on raised bamboo pillars using all-natural materials (mostly). The restaurant has been given a matching dim lit lighting gelling to its 'natural' ambience. The live music in the background would make the dinning a lively and sweet experience. At times the customers also join the singer and dance...
In the restaurant, you will find wide variety of Indian, Chinese, Goan and other Continental cuisines.. Veg as well as non-veg... I could find only a-la-carte and no buffet when I visited the place. All dishes were priced little towards the higher side, may be since majority of the customers are foreigners. I found most of the dishes delicious and of adequate quantity... The only turn-off was the soup which found to be watery (I tried sea food soup and chicken clear soup).
You will get alcoholic beverage of your choice also in the restaurant.
Next to the restaurant is a wooden bridge leading to the sand dunes of its own private beach. The bridge is lit with electric lamps to make the look mesmerising....
There is 4-wheeler access to this place but parking is on the road itself. However, since the place is not crowded, you wont find it difficult to get a parking place on the road near the property.
I would suggest you to visit this place for dinner with your family for a lively...
