Utterly Disappointing – Overpriced, Tasteless & Poorly Managed
We drove all the way from North Goa to South Goa to try Pele’s Restaurant after hearing so much about it. Sadly, the entire experience was a disaster despite the nice sea-facing ambience. • Service & Drinks: When we arrived, we were first told the restaurant was closed, then suddenly told it was open. Confusing start. We ordered one pina colada, two virgin pina coladas (₹600 for both), and a gin & tonic. The pina coladas were watery, overloaded with ice, and had no cream or taste. To make up, we tried fresh lime sodas, but what we first got was a pink, artificial-tasting soda. Only after we complained did they bring a proper lime soda. The bartender even tried to justify watery cocktails by saying he served them “on the rocks,” which made no sense at all. • Food: • Chonak Rava Fry – bland, barely any salt or masala. • Squid Batter Fry – overly crispy with a flat, hard batter instead of light and fluffy. • Golden Fried Prawns – same issue, flat maida batter, tasteless. • Chicken 65 – not authentic at all; instead, it tasted like Chinese chili chicken with mustard seeds thrown in.
Every dish lacked proper flavor and care. • Billing Issues: Our bill was a shocking ₹4,030 for subpar food and drinks. A pina colada cost ₹550, and 60 ml of gin was billed at ₹720. They even overcharged us by adding 120 ml instead of 60 ml for the gin. When we pointed it out, they admitted the mistake but took nearly 20 minutes to process the refund. We were so fed up and hungry by then that my dad just said, “Keep it, we’ll leave a review so others don’t get cheated.” • Ambience vs. Reality: Yes, the sea-facing location is beautiful and breezy. But ambience cannot make up for bad food, confused staff, poor service, and unjustifiable prices.
What’s most surprising is that this place seems hyped because celebrities and tourists come here and post good reviews. As locals from Goa, we can honestly say the experience was far from good and certainly not worth the hype, money, or the long drive.
Overall: Not...

They have a nice seating area as well for couples to families, from open air to enclosed. We visited this place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner so we get to see and experience the beach at various times of the day, and it was quite good, I must say. Although, at night I would suggest either wearing full clothes OR having something to get rid of mosquitoes, as there were a lot of them if you're planning to sit outside.
Food: I have found the food here is just below average. As I mentioned, we had all three meals of the day here, and all of them were having a below-average taste, nothing was like that I can remember OR say, that was nice or even delicious. The only thing I can say is that you get to enjoy the amazing view so you don't give much importance to stale OR tasteless food. Funnily enough, there was one item that wasn't properly cooked, and when we complained about it, we have been told that Chef said it look like that only, deal with it, like seriously.
Staff: They are not well trained, and most of them don't even know about the menu OR about the items they serve. Although I met two guys, I am sorry I forgot to ask their names, but both of them were quite helpful, they even suggested good places to visit nearby. Apart from these two, I don't think I've found anyone up to the mark. To my surprise, they were not even polite enough, OR know how to talk to customers/residents.
Washroom: Sorry, didn't use it so I can't comment on it.
Verdict: I would personally suggest visiting this place at least once(note more than that though) to get to see the beauty of the sea and Varca beach, along...
Read moreA very comfortable place to hole yourself up in.. In Goa.. I spent 8 days here with my friends as part of my workcation last week and enjoyed every bit of it.
The place is on the beach and you can see the sea reaching its door steps during high tides... So a beautiful and peaceful location.
We were working from here for an entire week and more and thankfully there was not much of a problem with the WiFi... Even when there was, the mobile network was fluent unlike many places in Goa.
The staff is very very friendly, taking care of every request of the guests - Ronny the manager of the place is very helpful and welcomed us heartily. Special mention to Suman, the staff at the place who goes out of the way to help and attend you- A hardworking kid and very customer centric. In one of the instances, when I couldn't find my phone, he not only checked the common area but also went to the extent to make sure that my phone was ringing in my room itself!!
The food is good, but can be better for sure. The chef there does however keeps in mind your food preferences. We wanted low oil, less spicy food which he did customize for us without compromising on the taste. However, some menu items can be improved upon in taste.
All in all, a comfortable and clean place to stay in, perfect location, very friendly and hospitable staff and a perfect place for a quiet, stressfree and relaxed time.
Would definitely recommend it to my...
