We have been having a buffet every year at this restaurant and this time, it was really not a great experience
The lunch buffet is supposed to start at 12:30pm but even by 1pm, serving spoons weren't laid out.
The staff was talking amongst themselves because there were very few guests initially.
The quality of food has deteriorated significantly since I last visited. The pizza tasted like a bakery pizza. The Indian main course had nothing exciting. The only good thing was the Pesto pasta.
The desserts should have had one sugar free option but that wasn't the case.
None of the staff came to ask us how our meal was. I thought this was the norm in good restaurants but sadly not the case here.
Taj has still not become environmentally conscious. When I asked for plain filtered drinking water, the staff insisted that the bottled water was complimentary. It's high time for Taj hotels to optimise on their unnecessary plastic usage.
I told the server it was my birthday and it really wouldnt have cost them nothing to just get a pastry from the buffet desserts, write happy birthday next to it and serve it to me. But as mentioned, the staff was just not bothered.
I do hope someone reads this review and takes note of the points I...
Read moreNo 5 star standard at all when it comes to cuisine . The service staff were good but eventually fall in a loop when the food is bad . Complimentary bread served not fresh at all .Being in the hospitality industry this was a surprise specially from taj standards. The chef came to our table and we explained regarding the unfresh bread....he gets a new batch by just heating up the previous . I guess he thought we had no knowledge on food if he only knew right ! Pasta was filled on a plate like 3 portions on 1 plate ...risotto was so cheezy ( should have been renamed to mac and cheese ) The bruschetta topping was good not the base .The steak was ok . I ordered for a fish ..a dish inspired from Maldives. Was ok not great . Sweets were shockingly bad! We decided to order something simple so it won't go wrong . Rasmalai bad . Kulfi pistachio .....was basically malai kulfi with crushed pistachio over . I don't think the chef knows what his doing or either taj is just catering to groups and prefers buffets nowadays . Barman! Learn to make a simple classic. Mojito terrible !!!! Never again.
Service staff abhijeet ...Great guy ... And the rest of the...
Read morePost pandemic reality. The food and the service had its high and low points. Distinctly remembering points is how the service being lethargic. Tables in the corners of the restaurant were dirty and the floor manager Inder felt it was the carpenters mistake. Disappointing to find the same grease on that table when we came back for dinner. Food had a lot of highs however the buffet menu did not flow. Tasty food however they did not go well together. We really missed the Goan food and hopefully the chef will include going forward. While I have been critical about the food I would have any day rate it high while staying in a city however not in Goa, with a lot of awesome food options. We stayed in the property for a few days and nights and it is an awesome property and lot of fun stuff for kids and adults too however we will opt to eat out. If ur driving on ur own then there are some good restaurants 20 to 30 minutes away. I have given a 3 star for the desserts. They are truly 5 star quality. Kudos to the chef who...
