This is the second bad experience at Taj after having posted a review on TA in Aug and being contacted by the GM informing me that the first bad experience was a one off. I should have figured that’s not the reality.
Me and my husband visited Lobsters Shack on Friday, although I had the contact details of the GM I didn’t want to disturb him (even though he asked to call before our next visit), so we just did a walk in. Here is how the evening went:
The waiter got our first drink order wrong. We asked for a repeat of the Tiki drink and the drink that came was completely different. The worst part, the server was arguing with us that we are mistaken. I asked for a margarita with Jalapenos, he brought me a margarita with olives !! I had to go to the loo, which was the most disgusting loo I’ve ever experienced at a 5 star. My husband walked with me to the loo and was sitting right outside lobster shack and the server came running to ask if we will come back. Indicating we intended to leave without paying! We’ve been to lobster shack previously in April too, and we found the salad bar was way thinner than the last visit - bare minimum stuff. Lastly, my husband called ahead to check if we needed a booking. We walked in and there was a very loud wedding reception happening right next to the restro. As a courtesy to guests, you should inform if it’s going to be loud. We visit ITC all the time, there have been 2 instances where they’ve informed us about weddings and related noise even at the risk of them losing our business. It’s basic courtesy.
On the good side,
We enjoyed the seafood Thermidor.
It’s really unfortunate this Taj hotel is not able to get things right. We’ve stayed at various Taj’s across the country, but this is the most...
Read moreThe service was good but the food was not good. A bag of Doritos was served with the crushed avocado starter - as nachos. All the food was very greasy and lacked flavour. Very disappointing as the food everywhere else in the taj has been excellent. The menu was also a strange mix of food and definitely not a seafood restaurant - was expecting more fresh fish dishes. In the end ordered lobster Thermidor which was tasteless and presentation was awful and grilled sea bass which was of the quality of something you could have got in a much...
Read moreAlthough the staff at friendly, sometimes they can be slow to pay attention, even when the place is nearly empty. I believe that the food is probably good, but the waiter allowed me to order a fish that was too large for me, and cooked with a curry sauce that did not go well with the sea bass. A large, gooey bowl of fish was not a great introduction to the Goa'n cuisine. I felt that the waiter should have interceded to correct my order, but selling the fish by the gram is an incentive to allow customers to...
