Florentine Bar & Restaurant. — Restaurant in Goa

Today's saturday night was a long drive all the way to saligao only to dine at the restaurant "Florentine".

Florentine has been there since ages now and has maintained its name because of the consistacy in the quality of food they have served.

Our trip to Florentine today was out of a craving to eat their most sought after dish which is none other than Chicken Cafreal...

So mother and daughter , there we were waiting for our Chicken Cafreal to be brought to the table.

Beatifully placed in a sparkling white ceremic dinner plate, decorated with eonugh salads for roughage along with the traditional goan poder's (baker) poey was a perfect dinner for a hungry tummy.

The fried chicken becomes richly aromatic when marinated for long hours with the spicy corriender infused cafreal masala. The green gravy has been well soaked into the chunks of chicken.

The cafreal masala in general is a Goan speciality and has been made all over goa in goan homes, hotels and also marketed by various companies, but i have found the taste of the Forentine cafreal masala to have been most consistant and one of its kind ....Always same in taste but distinctly different in taste as compared to the other cafreal masalas.

One portion of chicken comes with two huge pieces, a leg piece and a breast piece, leaving no space in the stomach for u to try some other dish.

Even the "poey" made of wheat husk is so well made and baked that it just melts in the mouth, weather you accompany it with the chicken or eat it plain...the taste is awesome.

A tall glass of juice or a lime soda is the best way to washed down the sumptuous meal ( if u dont order for hard drinks/ alcohol) and we did just that.

Good ambience quick service smiling staff and competative pricing was the icing on the cake....

Every bit worth the long drive all the way from Kadamba plateau to Saligao, we came home completely happy and satisfied with our decision of having dinner at Florentine....highly recommeded...a must...

Absolutely pathetic food and service. The food took more than a hour to arrive dish by dish. The chicken wings were more like chick wings in size, no meat just bones with a bitter masala liquid poured over the wings.... definitely not what I would call a sauce or curry. The chicken shashlik was tasteless with the same bitter masala liquid poured over it...looks like they made excess of it and wanted to finish it .

The 2 portions of the ¼ chicken cafreal looked like they came from two different restaurants because of the size difference between the 2. Again no taste

The best dish was an orange colour liquid with only chilli powder mixed with a bottle of vinegar with 3 small pcs of boiled chicken that had no flavour....on the menu this contraption is called Chicken vindaloo!!!!! We couldn't even have a bite as it was soo awful and SOUR..

The so called parathas came to the table like rubber and was cold....the waiter took it back and said he brought a new batch when he returned but when we asked our original waiter he said that they just reheated the cold parathas and sent the same back.

The only edible dish was the crispy chicken ( no complain on this dish)

The food served at Florentine is The worst food I have ever eaten in my life. Wheather it be in India, abroad and GOA.

I wouldn't suggest anyone to go to this restaurant ever!!!!!!

If you want good chicken cafreal??? Then please go to the local Gado's & enjoy your money's worth.

To cover up for the pathetic food and service the manager sent a msg to our table saying that they will not charge us for the 6 rubber...

Service is very slow took more then hour for just 4 quoter of caferal and Bombay duck .

When the order arrived the Bombay ducks were good , Chicken caferal was salty, and there was no gravy . So I asked for Gravy which they got was in small plate , which they provide since long time , but this time it was very salty , so I informed them the next gravy was little ok but I could not finish my Goan bread so I asked for more, which had lot of pudina so ull know the taste. When I showed it to the manager .

He said He knows the taste of the caferal and till now there is no issue from any one.. An also said that I took 3times gravy , which is correct but the amount of gravy is served they should for how much it will reach to eat..

Since the place is functioning from very long time that does mean they can treat the customer any how..

I kept the plate of chicken and the gravy for the manager to taste and see. But he denied that it won't be whatever I told him was correct..

So I just asked for the bill and payed it. And left from there ..

They SPOILT my family time , which should have not happened.

Don't feel bad to express your review it may be good or bad.. Just say it .

#No worth going to this place, if your time is not being vauled by this staff.. #Never every going back to have any meal here nor I'm going suggest it to any one. #Florentine was very good before but now it's not.

Hope with this Review they might change their system and coming guest may have...
