My memories of this place go back to around 1977 or so, when it was a swanking new restaurant offering Udupi (then a rarity) food in Mapusa. As schoolboys, we would rush along and grab a vegetarian 'rice plate' before heading back to school nearby for some activity like Scouting, Quizzing, or whatever.
If I recall right, a rice plate (a full meal in itself) then cost Rs 2.50. Today, thanks to inflation, it costs around Rs 60 or so. But it's still the tasty, clean, wholesome food that Manjunath, as we abbreviated its name to, has long been known for.
It offers meals as well as snacks, and is open for much of the day (not sure about dinner).
In our schooldays, the story goes, a small group of schoolboys, thinking they were rather wise, went along, cut the demo 'money' from their Maths textbook cover, and invited themselves to Manjunath. After a wholesome snack, they tried paying with this 'money'. From what we believed then, the boys were promptly caught, taken to the kitchen, and made to spend the rest of the afternoon washing up dishes! Not sure whether this was true or urban legend in a then just-getting-urbanised town!

Read moreAfter looking at the rating I was curious to eat here. They serve you wid amazing chana masal but if ever you want try rice thali here then plz skip your decision as you can see few pics uploaded by me. The quality of rice is very poor, similarly the daal was completely like you are drinking some kind of water with some masals added it's consistency was watery and tasteless. The service by serving staff is mind blowing, I found them very friendly. I also ordered nimbu pani but it was as same as drinking water. So overall it's a good place where once can enjoy snacks...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at your restaurant, and I wanted to share my feedback. The food was absolutely delicious – truly authentic South Indian cuisine. I especially appreciated that it wasn't overly oily or spicy; it had just the right balance of flavors. The service was also incredibly quick, which made for a very pleasant experience. The only thing I wished for was the inclusion of filter coffee on your menu. It would be the perfect addition to complement such a...
