Looking at the reviews, I’m wondering if we caught them on an off day!
The owner was anything far from humble or hospitable. If anything, he lacked communication skills to the t! Yelling at the staff, not communicating with us on special requests, even though we’re just 15 steps away from him while he yells to his chefs. He lacked basic hospitality etiquettes of greeting your customers or even saying hi?!
As we entered , we sat down, got handed our menus and that’s it. For a good 10 minutes, no news from anyone. There’s one server , Manoj, for the whole place, and it was a busy day. The owner was on his phone, with the least bit of concern to help out and come see us. Nevertheless, we proceed.
We ordered for Jackfuit Chilli (the only thing I’ll come back for, if I do)
Golden Fried Prawns (changed to Raw Fried Prawns as it wasn’t up their alley). Okayish, nothing to rave about. ₹550 for 7/8 medium prawns which is a bit pricey to me, but given it’s in Porvorim and not Aldona, I’ll give in.
Vellyo Rawa Fry (asked for it to be made Kurkurit, but it was as limp as it could be, although fresh). Mighty hit of turmeric.
Squids Rechado - Perfectly cooked squids, lovely masala. Well balanced. On the spicy side.
Chicken lollipop. Looks are deceptive. Crispy outside, but once you reach the inside, they were grey and unappetising.
Butter Poi. No butter. Sprinkles of oil. Not even warm. Just put on the tawa for the sake of it. Complained about it to Manoj our server, & asked him to get another plate with butter, not comped for the first one. Didn’t throw a fit.
Cheese Garlic Poi. A poi sliced in between and cut into quarters. Each quarter has a hunk of cold processed cheese and some garlic cloves that were deep fried. No butter or no meaty cheese to bind it all together. What a crap experience with something so simple. Bread, cold.
Chili Oyster Chicken, absolute disaster. Chicken was so heavily coated. Smelled off like it was in the freezer for a while (freezer burn). Left it back there.
Mix fried rice, saving grace! Loved the fact you could feel prawns in every bite along with the chicken.
We asked if we could get some kind of fried chicken with no masala or chillies and for it be batter fried , like a chicken pakoda. Manoj misunderstood and miscommunicated to the owner. The owner is debating what our order can be, to the chefs. All while we’re sitting 10 steps away from him. They end up making a chilli chicken and I flat out told him what we wanted. And the smile finally comes , asking if we can take this since it’s made already to which I politely declined. I mean, if you didn’t understand something, come back to me, and ASK! Or tell me that you can’t deviate from the menu and I’ll be happy to oblige. They made something , but we already finished main course. We packed it and handed over to a friend. So I cannot say if it was good or not.
Ordered a Green Masala Fry chicken, never came to the table.
The bill: ₹5100 and some odd for 4 people. Booze included.
I’ve never felt so horrible at a restaurant. Apathetic owner always on his phone , overworked server, no ambience but prices worthy of a premium place, only goes to show how deceptive Instagram reels can be.
A smile, a hello and being proactive even if it’s the job of your server/employee, goes a long way. It’s your business. If you don’t put in the work as well when needed , then who will?
People sitting out were agitated as service was slow. But not once did he get out and attend to the customers. He waited for the server to do so… who was already overburdened.

Read more,,There was a lot a buzz about this place on Facebook. The owner actively promotes it and the feedbacks of people who visited this place were great. Today I got opportunity to visit it with a friend. The normal thali and special thali were both great. Quantity wise, quality wise, taste wise the food was 5/5 The choice of items included in a menu are fantastic. There was no sweet or blend sol kadi shot but a perfect sol kadi served in a bowl in a generous quantity. I met Shubhay who was my senior when I was on training in Alila Diwa Goa, that's the secret behind the 5 star level hospitality you can experience here. The decoration is modest and classy. The music on background was melodious and perfect. The food came bit late but the freshness justified it.
One of the best thali experience I had in the area around Porvorim. Keep up with the good work. I felt the thali was bit underpriced. So please make sure you don't reduce items or quantity later as I know many places who...

This is one such restaurant that I regretted not coming across earlier! Every item that we tried out was on point, from Fish Thali to Seafood Fry Items, Vegetarian Dishes and the desserts, just perfect!
If you are planning a dining with your family and friends, @jackfruitkitchenandbar has to be on the list when around Porvorim - Panjim - Sangolda, North Goa.
📌 Vegetarian Specials : The founder and the head chef Shubhay Raikar has curated something really interesting for vegetarians out there! Apart from the usual vegetarian option, there’s an entire section of dishes curated with a Jackfruit. You will find options like Jackfruit Biryani, Jackfruit Tikka, Jackfruit Manchurian and a lot more! And all of it tastes soo soo good! You’ll be surprised to know that it is something made out of Jackfruit!
Totally recommending this...
