During our recent trip to Goa, we decided to dine at Johncy Seafood, a beachside restaurant located in the charming town of Benaulim. Our visit took place in the evening, and here is a detailed review of our experience: The first thing that struck us as we arrived at Johncy Seafood was its prime location, right by the beach. The setting was idyllic, with the sound of the waves in the background and the soft glow of the evening sun. The restaurant exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere. The seating was comfortable, and the overall vibe was relaxed and enjoyable. One of the highlights of our visit was the live music playing in the background. The live music contributed to the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We opted for a variety of dishes to get a taste of what this restaurant had to offer. The Chicken Manchow Soup was a comforting choice, with a hearty and flavorful broth. It was the perfect appetizer. Butter Naan, Cheese Garlic Naan and Garlic Naan : The bread at Johncy was absolutely delicious - soft, fluffy, and packed with flavor. The cheese garlic naan, in particular, was a standout with its rich, cheesy goodness. The Beef Chilly Fry was a savory and mildly spicy delight. The tender meat and well-balanced spices made it a pleasant dish. Although the Pork Vindaloo was decent, it fell short of being authentic Goan style. While it had a flavorful and tangy gravy, it lacked the depth and spiciness that characterizes traditional Goan Vindaloo. However, it wasn't a terrible dish, and some might appreciate its milder flavor. Finally the fresh lime soda was a refreshing and tangy accompaniment to our meal, especially considering the warm Goan evening. It's important to note that although Johncy is primarily known for its seafood, we did not sample any seafood dishes during this visit due to a seafood lunch earlier in the day. Nonetheless, the non-seafood options were commendable. Given its prime location and decent quality of food, the bill didn't leave us feeling like we had overindulged. Johncy offers good value for your money, which is especially appealing for budget-conscious travelers. In conclusion, Johncy Seafood in Benaulim, Goa, is a beachside restaurant that offers a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance, live music, and most of the food are quite enjoyable, and the prices are reasonable.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Johncy Restaurant in Goa and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The ambiance of the restaurant is simply amazing. The decor is tastefully done and it has a cozy and comfortable vibe that just puts you at ease. Now, let's talk about the food and drinks. Everything we ordered was simply delicious. The quality of the ingredients was apparent in every dish and the portions were very generous. The drinks were also on point and definitely hit the spot. While the price may be slightly higher than some of the other restaurants in the area, it's definitely worth it for the quality of the food and drinks. You can tell that the ingredients used are fresh and of the highest quality. The only downside was the speed of service. It could have been a bit faster, but it wasn't a deal breaker by any means. That being said, the staff were very friendly and accommodating and did their best to make sure we had a great dining experience. One thing that really stood out to me about Johncy Restaurant was their treatment of stray cats and dogs. They let them roam freely and don't hit them like in other establishments. As an animal lover, I really appreciated this gesture and it definitely added to the overall positive experience. In conclusion, I highly recommend Johncy Restaurant to anyone visiting Benaulim. The ambiance, food, and drinks are top-notch and it's definitely a must-visit spot in the area. I look forward to visiting again in the future.

Come on in and have a seat overlooking the Arabian Sea! Now that is one of the best experiences in life you can have while dining! If you're looking for great food and some entertainment to go along with it, you will love this restaurant to spend a lovely evening. Not only do they serve excellent meat, seafood and veggie dishes but they specialize in true Goan cooking as well, which is the main reason I have reviewed this restaurant. You can sit in the restaurant watching the ocean waves gently roll, or if you wish you can have a table on the sands as well, allowing yourself to be grounded while you dine. The prices are quite reasonable when it comes to quality food, not to mention that your food orders are always freshly cooked for you. On that note, I should also mention that the waiters are always ready and willing to serve your needs. The bar is fully stocked with local and imported beers and wines to accompany your complete dinner requirements. Bathrooms are constantly maintained for cleanliness. You can park your bike or car just outside the restaurant's parking space. After you've enjoyed your meal, join in the karaoke and sing your heart out as you mingle with other guests. It's really good for your blood circulation ha ha. Oh and don't forget to check out their popular candle-light dinners, served when the sun goes down....it's great for couples: gets you in the mood for a happy ending to a wonderful evening (hint hint).

During my recent visit to Johncy Restaurant & Bar on Benaulim Beach in South Goa, I was eager to try their vegetarian menu, particularly the veg starters, after hearing about the spot's long-standing reputation since 1987. The location is undeniably a winner—right on the sandy shores with stunning ocean views, gentle waves lapping nearby, and a casual, breezy atmosphere that's perfect for a sunset meal or relaxed evening. The staff is welcoming, portions are generous, and prices are affordable, making it an accessible choice for beachgoers looking for a no-fuss spot. If you're just there for the ambiance and maybe a cold drink, it delivers on that front. However, when it came to the vegetarian menu, especially the veg starters we ordered—like paneer tikka, stuffed mushrooms, and veg pakoras—it was hands down the worst kind of food I've had in Goa. Everything was drenched in so much oil that it felt greasy and overwhelming, turning what should be light appetizers into a heavy, stomach-churning mess. To make matters worse, the items were half-baked: the paneer was undercooked and rubbery in texture, the mushrooms were barely warmed through with a raw crunch that no one wants, and the pakoras were doughy and unevenly fried, lacking any crispiness. And the taste? Absolutely nonexistent—no spices, no herbs, no flavor whatsoever. It was as if the kitchen had skipped seasoning entirely, leaving bland, oily disappointments that we could barely finish. We hoped the Goan vegetarian twists might add some zing, but it was all just a soggy, tasteless letdown that didn't do justice to the fresh ingredients Goa is known for. In summary, while Johncy's beachfront setting earns it points for vibe and convenience (I'd rate the overall experience 2.5/5), the vegetarian menu, and veg starters in particular, is a big miss—oily, underdone, and flavorless. If you're a veggie enthusiast, skip this and head to other local spots for better options. A kitchen overhaul could turn things around, but as it stands, it's not recommended for...
