Ordered a Pani Puri. The Pani Puri balls (golgapa) were very hard. Seemed like some old stock. Some were not puffed and tasted utterly disgusting. Tea without sugar did not taste like tea at all. It was over boiled and had a layer of skin that formed every time I removed it with a tissue. The sheera had excessive sugar and tasted bland. Did not enjoy it at all. The waiter tried to clear my table before I finished my snack. Last of all the bill accompanied a condiment of mouth freshener that was served in a dish that belonged to AIR INDIA in-flight meal plates. (Presumably stolen and smuggled) from the airplane to be used at this restaurant. I assume Air India management has no idea 30% of their cutlery and snack plates have gone missing from their flights and is illegally being used at this restaurant ( I guess it's being smuggled by a frequent traveller who owns this restaurant)....I can call it nothing, but a real big shame.👎

This restaurant is located close to the Church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception and is a safe bet for Vegetarians. I remember this restaurant from a visit over two decades back, so it is nice to see it still standing. Of course, seems like they have not had much of a makeover in some years, so the property doesnt have visual appeal. But, the food is good, particularly if you are looking for South Indian vegetarian in a place like Goa!! Prices are reasonable. If you have your own wheels (as I did on this trip!!), then you can mark this place for a meal as a part of your travels for the day Great place to have a meal, quick snacks or South Indian food. Have AC and non ac sections. Pure Veg food. Typical Udupi restaurant. Every dish is good, tasty and well made. Good efficient and quick service. Is always crowded so guaranteed of fresh food.

Visited this hotel for a quick lunch after a gap of 15 years. They have maintained it very well with new interiors & menu list has improvised to include more dishes. Ground floor is Non AC & the first floor is a AC hall. We chose Veg Thali which was wholesome meal with Veg Subzi, Saagu, Poori / Chapathi, Sambar, Rasam, Rice, Papad, Sweet, Curd, Salad. Taste has remained the same even after so many years though we were not able try other dishes due to short of time. Staff are ever smiling & very courteous. It's close to Immaculate Conception Church & the surroundings give you a nostalgic feel of Old Goan times with the differently painted Old buildings. Must visit hotel if you wish to taste South / North Indian food in Panaji.

Hotels and restaurants are essential components of the hospitality industry, providing travelers and locals with comfortable lodging and delightful dining experiences. Hotels range from budget accommodations to luxurious five-star establishments, catering to a variety of preferences and budgets. They offer amenities such as room service, fitness centers, swimming pools, and business facilities, ensuring a pleasant stay for guests.

Restaurants within hotels often serve diverse cuisines, from local delicacies to international dishes, prepared by skilled chefs. These dining establishments aim to provide a memorable culinary experience, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and exceptional service. Many hotels feature multiple dining options, including casual cafes, elegant fine-dining restaurants, and vibrant bars, catering to different dining preferences and occasions.

Standalone restaurants, on the other hand, are integral to the local dining scene. They range from street food vendors and family-owned eateries to upscale dining establishments, each offering unique flavors and atmospheres. Restaurants play a vital role in showcasing regional cuisines and culinary traditions, attracting food enthusiasts and tourists alike.

Both hotels and restaurants contribute significantly to the local economy, creating jobs and promoting tourism. They provide a platform for cultural exchange, allowing guests to experience the local heritage through food and hospitality. Whether you’re seeking a cozy place to stay or a delightful meal, hotels and restaurants offer a wide array of options to suit every need...

Recently visited the Kamat Hotel in Panaji as I was visiting due to some work. Expected a simple, wholesome vegetarian meal at a reasonable price — just like it used to be. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with both the food and the pricing. For a place that positions itself as a pure veg restaurant catering to the everyday diner, the prices have soared sky-high. A basic rice meal starts at ₹250, and most lunch dishes are priced between ₹250 to ₹500, which is far too steep for an average middle-class family looking for a regular lunch outing. To make things worse, the quality didn’t justify the cost. I tried the aloo paratha, and it was underwhelming — not fresh, not flavorful, and certainly not worth the price. I remember Kamat being a go-to spot for affordable, tasty, and satisfying South Indian meals, but sadly, those days seem to be long gone. Even the cutlery was not thoroughly cleant. Overall, I found the experience disappointing and overpriced. Unless the prices become more reasonable (doubtful in this day and age), or the food quality improves significantly, I wouldn’t recommend Kamat Panaji or any Kamat hotel to others looking for value for money in a...
