Read moreRecently visited the Kamat Hotel in Panaji as I was visiting due to some work. Expected a simple, wholesome vegetarian meal at a reasonable price — just like it used to be. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with both the food and the pricing. For a place that positions itself as a pure veg restaurant catering to the everyday diner, the prices have soared sky-high. A basic rice meal starts at ₹250, and most lunch dishes are priced between ₹250 to ₹500, which is far too steep for an average middle-class family looking for a regular lunch outing. To make things worse, the quality didn’t justify the cost. I tried the aloo paratha, and it was underwhelming — not fresh, not flavorful, and certainly not worth the price. I remember Kamat being a go-to spot for affordable, tasty, and satisfying South Indian meals, but sadly, those days seem to be long gone. Even the cutlery was not thoroughly cleant. Overall, I found the experience disappointing and overpriced. Unless the prices become more reasonable (doubtful in this day and age), or the food quality improves significantly, I wouldn’t recommend Kamat Panaji or any Kamat hotel to others looking for value for money in a...
