Sher-e-Punjab in Panaji, Goa is a hidden gem that takes you on an authentic culinary journey through the vibrant flavors of Punjab. My recent dining experience at this restaurant left me completely impressed and satisfied.
Ambiance: The moment I stepped into Sher-e-Punjab, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior decor reflects the rich Punjabi culture with its elegant wooden furniture, vibrant colors, and beautiful artwork. The soft Punjabi folk music playing in the background added to the overall ambiance, creating a pleasant dining environment.
Service: The staff at Sher-e-Punjab deserves special praise for their exceptional service. From the moment I entered, I was greeted with genuine smiles and courteousness. The waiters were knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations. They ensured that my dining experience was comfortable and attended to my needs promptly. The service was efficient yet attentive, making me feel valued as a customer.
Culinary Delights: Now, let's talk about the highlight of Sher-e-Punjab—the food! The menu offers an extensive array of authentic Punjabi dishes that cater to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences. Each dish I tried was bursting with flavors that transported me straight to the streets of Punjab.
I started with the classic Punjabi starters such as tandoori chicken and paneer tikka. The tandoori chicken was succulent, perfectly marinated, and charred to perfection. The paneer tikka was delightfully spiced and had a smoky flavor that made it a true delight.
Moving on to the main course, I indulged in their signature Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani. The Butter Chicken had a creamy and luscious tomato-based gravy that was rich in flavors, complementing the tender chicken pieces. The Dal Makhani was a heavenly combination of black lentils and kidney beans, cooked slowly to perfection and infused with aromatic spices. Each bite was a sheer delight.
To accompany my meal, I ordered freshly made naan bread and fragrant biryani. The naan was soft and fluffy, perfect for mopping up the rich gravies. The biryani was a beautiful medley of aromatic basmati rice and tender pieces of meat, layered with fragrant spices. It was bursting with flavors and left me craving for more.
Conclusion: Sher-e-Punjab in Panaji, Goa is a must-visit for all food enthusiasts and Punjabi cuisine lovers. The restaurant offers an authentic and unforgettable dining experience. From the welcoming ambiance to the impeccable service and, most importantly, the delectable Punjabi delicacies, Sher-e-Punjab excels in every aspect. Read moreThis restaurant has been my favourite ever since I was a Child. It has been the place where my family and I have had many happy meals served with a smile. So imagine my surprise when this evening I went to have a meal there and saw that inspite of there being so much space available, they had made all customers to sit in one area. I requested them to allow my family and myself to sit at a distance from the croud because we are still in the middle of a pandemic. The man behind the counter with a South Indian accent spoke very rudely to us. We told him that if he would not allow us to sit at a distance that we would go elsewhere. He just said OK. A very rude person. He does not belong to the hospitality industry.I hope the management takes note. Because I have had meals at your restaurant for more than 30 years and for God's sake there is a Pandemic out there.
Here is another review I read of another customer going through a similar experience. How can you rudely tell your customers to sit crowded together during these COVID times.
Here is the review of that customer.........
Very bad experience. It's Covid time, everybody is maintaining social distancing. But the so called manager of the restaurant forced us to sit with the gathering though the half section of the restaurant was empty and it was closing time soon. Inspite of making multiple request he was adamant. We had to leave without taking food and moved to Ritz Classic. It's a request to the owner pls make ur staff educate and humble. People have forgotten the Indian culture of Atithi Devobhav. It was ur loss not ours as we had a nice lunch at Ritz. It's sad as I heard a lot about your restaurant. Bad Experience...
Read moreVisited this place on the occasion of Holi evening along with bunch of college friends. Sher-E-Punjab, located in the heart of Panjim city, is the oldest Punjabi restaurant in Goa. It primarily serves authentic Punjabi food along with some popular Goan dishes and Indo-Chinese favourites and has AC, non- AC and open-air courtyard seating.
Sher-E-Punjab down 18 June Road is a cosy made-over kind of a place which still whispers of what not stories from the old days. It’s what I call a retreat of a restaurant, comfy seating arrangement, narrow but opening out to an al fresco courtyard at the far end with a pocket full of green trees.
Service - Staff was really courteous and well versed with the menu. However scope of improvement is there in the lead time of the order.
Mocktails - Out of 4 mocktails we ordered, I think 2 were upto the mark and the other two were made in a hurry because the syrup used to make the mocktail was not properly mixed. Although the same was informed to the person serving us but no action taken, which was quite shocking.
Food - Ordered : Mocktails - Atomic Cat, Virgin Mojito, Arabian Sea and Melon Kooler. Starters - Chicken Lollipop and Chicken Seek Kebab. Main Course - Chicken Peshawari and Malai Kofta. Bread- Naan Rice - Jeera Rice
Overall taste was really good still the portion size of Malai Kofta was below average. I hope the portion size of Malai Kofta is reviewed because the taste and portion size was not really upto the mark.
Overview - Ambience - 5/5 Taste - 4/5 Service - 4/5 Mocktails - 2/5 Value...
