Mallu republic is a restaurant where you will get Kerala dishes at Panjim, Goa. The restaurant is situated around 4 kms from the Panjim (Panaji) Kadamba Bus Stand. You will get to and fro buses between bus stand and this restaurant.
The vegetarian thali meals is excellent for its price and tasty. It contains various Kerala dishes with Payasam.
But the specials like fish curry, fish fry, etc., are very costly and spicy. Normal Kerala Fish curry is not available here. Fish curry and fish fry are called mulagitta shappu curry and thava fry respectively. So they price it in higher end. An average chicken biriyani is also costlier than other restaurants in goa.
In this context, it may please be noted that fish is cheaply available at Goa. Fish thali meals is available for Rs.150/- with mackerel (Ayala) fry at the other restaurants.
Those who want to try Kerala food can try once or twice for a change. But if you have food continuously from this restaurant, you will loose money and will get abdominal disorders.
When I posted the above message, the owner responded in two sentences. Being a responsible local guide, I would like to answer the queries.
"Where in Goa you get unlimited Thali at Rs.150 ?"
My statement may please be seen. I repeat "Fish thali meals is available for Rs.150/- with mackerel (Ayala) fry at the other restaurants" Fish Thali meals with mackerel fish fry is available below Rs.150 at Jeni's Cloud Kitchen, Vasco. It is run by Keralites. Its advertisement is attached. Another one is Adarsh Restaurant, Near Vasco da Gama railway station. This restaurant is run by Goans.
"We have varieties of Fish curry, not just shappu curry."
I came to your restaurant and asked for vegetarian thali meals without looking into the menu. Then I ordered one Pomfret fish curry and one Mackerel fish curry. It is my fault that I have not seen the menu since I trusted you being Keralites. Without mentioning anything, you served Mulagitta Shappu Curry. In Kerala, when we go to a restaurant like Karimpumkala Family Restaurant, Pallom, Kottayam, they will ask whether we want normal fish curry or shappu curry or malabar fish curry etc., So it is evident that you served the costly shappu curry even though other kind of fish curries are available at that restaurant.
There may be persons like me who goes to various places due to unavoidable circumstances and not for pleasure trips. (I came to meet with the District Collector, North Goa.) When I consumed the Goan food for two days, my desire was to have Kerala food. So I searched for it. I found Kerala Cafe Resto Bar just 3 kms from the Colva beach. Another one was Jeni's Cloud Kitchen, Vasco.
Your restaurant was good. I have offered my suggestions for rectification of the pitfalls, if you are ready to accept. Otherwise ignore it. Thanks for...

Title: Exceptional Service & Warm Hospitality - 5/5 Stars!
I'm overwhelmed with gratitude and joy after experiencing the extraordinary service from Mallu Republic Restaurant in Goa! From Qatar, I reached out to them via WhatsApp to arrange a special birthday celebration for my son, who works in Panjim.
They went above and beyond to make his day unforgettable! They expertly arranged a traditional Sadya, his favorite payasam, and even surprised him with a heartfelt birthday wish. But what touched my heart was the thoughtful birthday card and box of sweets they gifted him.
Their attention to detail, kindness, and warm hospitality exceeded my expectations. Mallu Republic Restaurant truly knows how to make every guest feel special.
Thank you, team, for making my Son's birthday so memorable. Your excellent service and genuine care have earned you a lifelong customer and a proud recommendation.

22-Oct-2025 A heartfelt thank-you to the Mallu Restaurant, Goa team for once again making my son’s birthday so special!
I had also posted a review last year for the wonderful service they provided on his birthday, and this year they have again exceeded my expectations. The Sadya was beautifully arranged, and their thoughtful gesture of gifting him a box of sweets truly touched my heart.
As a mother living far away, it gives me immense happiness to see how warmly they make his day memorable each year. Excellent food, caring service, and a team that truly values their customers. Highly...

They have a non-ac ground floor dinning area and a mezzanine air-conditioned area. The day we decided to try something different, there were four in our group and we ordered two plates of 'Kerala Veg meals' and two plates of Kerala style fish curry rice. i.e. "Two veg thalis and 2 fish thalis". The items in veg and fish plates were identical - except, for the addition of a Mackerel curry dish in the Fish thali. The veg thali is Rs 100 while the fish thali is Rs 150/- and the quantity is unlimited. Fortunately for the restaurant owner, all of us were light eaters. 😅
As you can see from the photo, the rice is par boiled and obtained from Kerala. There were 3 types of vegetable (Tendli, Avial, Spinash), a Sambar, a katori of Payasam and a papad. Every item in the plate was delicious and different from what we Goans are used to. Given the unlimited nature of the offering, quite understandably, fried fish (in the fish thali) is optional and is not included by default.
The waiter was attentive and the service, quick.
Only two in our group managed to empty their plates. The other two (including myself), struggled to finish even half simply because we were unused to eating so much. I also ordered a chicken stew as a take away and I can confirm it was good.
So, its a honest unpretentious joint serving delicious, unlimited quantity of food from Kerala at absolutely down to earth...
