Read moreAh, Sagar Kinara, where culinary excellence takes a back seat and ignorance rides shotgun. My recent dining experience there was nothing short of mind-blowing, and by mind-blowing, I mean I'm still trying to wrap my head around their interpretation of onion rings.
Kudos to their kitchen team for boldly ignoring the fact that onion rings are traditionally coated in breadcrumbs, opting instead for a crispy gram flour exterior. Who needs culinary basics when you can reinvent the wheel and call it an "innovative twist," right? I mean, it's not like onion rings have been perfected over centuries or anything.
As I bit into what they audaciously labeled "onion rings," I was treated to an absolute abomination that can only be described as an onion pakora's less talented cousin. The bland, lifeless gram flour coating was a far cry from the satisfying crunch of a well-made onion ring. Bravo, Sagar Kinara, for redefining disappointment one bite at a time.
But don't let my snark deter you. If you're in the mood for a culinary adventure that defies logic and taste, Sagar Kinara is the place to be. Just remember to leave your expectations at the door, along with your knowledge of how onion rings are supposed to be made. Bon...
Read moreWhile there are so many restaurants around Colva beach, this place is pretty good. We (I, my wife, mother and sister) had put up at a resort near Colva beach and in the evening, after spending amazing time at the beach, we were looking for a pure veg restaurant when we came across Sagar Kinara and thought to give it a try.
Ambiance:
They also have a bar+restaurant at the ground floor and a pure veg section on the first floor. We went to the first floor. The ambiance was decent enough for a budget restaurant. Normally, one thing you seek is cleanliness at such places and that was there. So, it was fine for us.
Food:
We ordered onion rings and cheeze pakoda for the starters and both of them were good. Not too much of oil and were quite tasty - to get us started. We ordered Onion Uttapam, Rava Onion Dosa, Rava Masala Dosa and Cheeze dosa. While Uttappam and Cheeze dosa were fine, Rava (onion and masala) had strong taste of soda. Sambhar and Chutney were not so good.
Service:
The service was good and prompt. Normally at such restaurants, waiters other than the one attending you, don't even look at you, which was not the case here. The food was served in a timely manner.
Overall, it is a good place to have a...
