Siona Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Goa

If there were a negative rating system, I would use it. Anyone considering dining at this restaurant would regret it. Here's my experience from when I worked there as a server/waiter.

To start with the working environment, there is no professional chef—only one man handles everything, and there's always a staff shortage due to low salaries. Whenever staff inquired about their salaries, they were told they would be paid after 45 days. However, after this period, when two employees asked for their pay, they were told they would receive it only when they left the restaurant. This practice felt like modern slavery. I witnessed several staff leave the restaurant in tears without receiving a single penny. The owner frequently shouted and used abusive language.

Regarding the food, much of the seafood is not fresh. For example, French fries and crab lollipops are fried in the same oil. The kitchen often has leakage problems. Shockingly, they have a tandoori oven that they don't use. When tandoori items are ordered, they are cooked on a pan, even tandoori roti and naan. The food quality does not justify the slightly higher prices compared to nearby restaurants, and there is no authentic Goan cuisine.

Many customers have complained about the freshness of the seafood, but the owner never takes responsibility. Regardless of the quality of the food, customers must pay for it. There is no sense of hospitality. The restaurant has a loud TV in the middle, playing the same playlist on repeat, which many guests have complained about. Ambiance: We visited this place for lunch. From the outside, this place looks nice and spacious personally, I prefer restaurants(mainly tourist places) that put their menu/OR at least menu items outside for display. It helps you to make up your mind, a small thing but quite useful. This place has decent seating arrangements, even a dedicated place for private parties like any celebration, birthdays, etc. As per the crowd at the place, I would say this place is for both, couples and families.

Food: I have found the food here is slightly above average. Although I have also found that this place is a complete value for money. We've ordered a mix of veg/non-veg items from Crispy fried corn, Chees stuffed mushrooms to Pizza, Pasta, and Fish. Our friends liked the fish and said it was fresh and delicious. Overall, all the food items were tasty, and we were all satisfied.

Staff: Our attendee was courteous, and quite helpful, both of them were sweet. The lady manager here was also really helpful. We need to see a mechanic OR go to the garage on an urgent basis for our scooter, and the manager helped us out through that. She even gave us the numbers of two mechanic and their garages. It was a nice experience.

Washroom: We have used both the Washrooms and the Handwash area. Both of them were spacious, neat, and clean. Exactly where I prefer, away from the main dining area.
