Paradise for Bookworm. Paradise for Environmentalist. Paradise for Food Critic.
Welcome Peeps! To another interesting blog from Anjuna, Goa. This time I was covering @theflyinggoat.goa which offers you not only good food but the story behind the food as well.
Qais - who is the owner here @theflyinggoat.goa has already worked at different setting in Goa for approximately 5 years. Interestingly he registered the company by this name in 2017 in Mumbai but had no clue at that time what will he do with this name. Qais love for hospitality has pulled him to Goa otherwise he was suppose to join the Media industry as he graduated from the same stream.
Taking about this place, it is built in such a way to ensure zero wastage. Most of the ingredients used in the dishes are home grown and if you tend to have an eye for detail, you can easily witness someone plucking the leaves or fruits for the dish you order. 3/4 of my time at this place was spent to understand the sustainability project they are working on in order to give back to environment. The table mats, coasters, earthen glasses, etc are smartly bought from local vendors to support their business as well. For example Mr. Porter who hails from Socorro, who is also the last generation of Potter in Goa supplies them few articles of interest.
Qais was very generous in giving me every minute detail of the restaurant. To be honest I haven't seen any food joint in Goa which is planned so carefully in my past 5 years.
I randomly gate crashed at this place as I was in Anjuna and didn't planned the trip so I couldn't eat a lot as I was already full but I manage to drink and eat the best this place offers.
In sequence Food : *Greek Fava *Fish Meat Balls Beverage: *Pandan Jaggery Old Fashioned
All the above stuff was recommended by Qais and the portion size at this place is designed in such a way to ensure no food wastage.
Review and highly recommended - Fish meat balls included minced chonak with herbs, breaded and fried. Served with mustard crème fraiche.
Greek Fava included creamy split pea dip, topped with a tomato caper sauce, and served with crostini and crudite.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the Flying Goat Cafe/Bar/Bookstore, and it was an absolute gem! The cozy atmosphere, complete with lush plants and a charming garden, instantly made me feel at home. Not to mention, the small, cute pet 🐶 named Luce added an extra layer of warmth to the ambiance. (In Italian, "Luce" means "light," which perfectly reflects the joy this little pup brings to the cafe.)
As for the drinks, I tried both the cold brew with honey and the cold Americano, and both were incredibly satisfying. The cold brew had a hint of sweetness from the honey, while the cold Americano provided a refreshing kick of caffeine. It was evident that they take pride in their coffee offerings, and it truly paid off.
What truly sets the Flying Goat apart is its welcoming atmosphere and friendly vibes. Alongside Luce, there was another furry friend whose name I didn't catch, but both furry friends were incredibly friendly and added to the charm of the place.
Whether you're looking for your daily dose of caffeine or simply a cozy spot to unwind with a good book, the Flying Goat Cafe/Bar/Bookstore is the perfect destination. I can't wait to return for another delightful...
Read moreThe place is situated in a slightly off beat location but getting there was worth it! The food was just amazing and you could really taste every ingredient. Their version of Banoffee pie was the best which had burnt coconut shavings on top. The prawn dish was paired with an absolutely yummy pineapple sauce that was polished off in minutes.
There are some 5000+ books in the library which you can enjoy at your leisure and even buy them..and sell them back after u are done.
Hope to see some more books for kids next time.... our kid refused to leave the place and we had to bribe her by buying one of the books there. She is also planning to send some books of hers to the library for other kids to enjoy a larger kids section.
But overall would really recommend this place to people looking to have a relaxed time with their friends and family different from the beachy/shack stuff that one may...
