They are probably so focused on catering to non Goans and those that want booze and the hookah that we had a miserable experience.
We went as 3 couples with kids for dinner. Ordered some basic starters and we were told that since tables are full, it would take 15-20 minutes (which we were perfectly ok with). 45 minutes later after literally yelling at them because the kids were hungry, they bring 2 out of the 4 starters promptly forgetting the other 2.
The main course arrived 65 minutes after ordering it by which time we were starving. Some of the orders were mixed up and it was even more annoying because the arrogant waiter didn't feel the need to write down anything despite multiple requests to do so. For goodness sakes, if you have that good a memory, you shouldn't be wasting your time at a shack. In the middle of the main course, our 3rd starter was brought which we promptly declined.
The waiter had all the skills of a politician in assuring as that the food was just coming out of the kitchen when in reality it wasn't even started upon.
On a plus note, the food ( beef steak, beef sizzler, chicken cordon bleu) was tasty even though the beef in the sizzler was a bit tough. The prawn sizzler was average and so was the chicken California.
It was a really disappointing outing and not a place we plan to...
Read moreI have been to many restaurants in goa. But always found a special welcome in valonias. The food was amazing. Especially the prawns and Kingfish (seer fish). It was fresh. Tasty and the best part way cheaper than most restaurants on goa beaches. One of the best parts of the restaurant is the ambience. Unlike nearby restaurants with too much lighting and sound. Valonias have decided to go with the classical touch. Making sure we can enjoy the ambience and the beauty of the beach. Secondly the staff. Harikrishnan and Sam. Two of the best service staff I have met ever. Make sure to ask for Indian masala, if you love spice in your seafood. Honestly mouth-watering. One of the unique things about this place is, even a single/individual can greatly enjoy this place.
Waiting for my next visit very soon. All the times I've visited there it was a...
Read moreWe stayed in Benaulim for 4 days and on a recommendation we visited Valonia's Sea View Beach Shack. We did try 1 other place on one occasion, but decided to come back to Valonia's for drinks, lunch and dinner for the rest of our stay. Why? The food, in particular the local Goan food was excellent. The location was great, right on the beach, with a buzz but not overly crowded. The service, this needs special mention. Ujj who served us was excellent .... attentive, friendly and helpful without being pushy. I would without a shadow of a doubt recommend this venue. And after years of coming to Goa, I would say this was one of the best best beach shacks we have visited. If you are in Benaulim beach make sure...
