As i was living around this area for some years ago, my visit to this place was for occasionally. Whenever i passed by around this place, it always remained crowded no matter what day it was, just people waiting for their turns. Even in the early hours of the morning, this place is packed. They open this shop in the early hours of morning for like 6:30 AM and till 10 AM on many times their stock would get emptied on early occasions too. This business is run by the family. Currently, they've limited their menu and discontinued the uttapams and medu vadas's servings on weekends. It's a bit costly for breakfast, but worth it for what they're serving is the quality. I must say that until now, they've maintained the quality of their food. Their most selling item is Idli sambhar, costing 70/- for 2 pcs [with podi masala on top of it Is like butter in the bun maska], which gave a total enhancement in the flavour of Idli sambhar Other than that Podi Masala dosa [Ghee] was highly recommended in orders. It was amazingly good, just soaked & drenched with ghee and podi masala. Personally, i find the chutney is underrated apart from their podi masala. It was that good. Talking about pricing for 190, it was heavy in the spending, but all the money was on that podi masala, which made this place so popular amongst the South Indian food enthusiast on even in early mornings for like in 7 AM you will find a heavy rush on their outlet.

Food Station is a wonderful destination for authentic South Indian cuisine, lovingly prepared by a warm and welcoming uncle and aunty. The dishes have a homely touch, making every bite feel comforting and wholesome. Must-try items include the Podi Dosa, Cheese Masala Dosa, Plain Dosa, and the flavorful Podi Idli, all of which are perfectly complemented by their signature Podi Chutney. What sets this place apart is not only the exceptional taste of the food but also the genuine hospitality of the owners, who treat every customer with warmth and kindness, ensuring a memorable experience. For the best experience, it is recommended to visit during the early morning hours between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM . However, if you plan to visit later in the morning , arriving 30 minutes early is advisable to avoid waiting due to the high demand. With its authentic flavors, homely preparations, and heartfelt hospitality, Food Station is a must-visit spot for South Indian food enthusiasts.

One of the few south Indian breakfast places in town, Food station is being self managed by a courteous and joyous family. The mother being the Head chef, the child being the manager and the father being the joint chef the family surely adds a personal touch to each food dish prepared. Being a pretty tiny place, do not expect too much on the ambience or seating aspect. However the hygiene is surely well taken care of. On the food front we tried : Podi uttapam - A must try here. Uttapam sprinkled with ample Podi. Idli - As fresh and soft as it can get Masala Dosa - A dosal lovers delight Ghee roast Dosa - A South Indian speciality. Crispy Dosa Roasted in ghee. The taste surely leaves you spell bound. The pricing seemed pretty justified for the quantity and quality offered. The place opens only during the breakfast hours and they run out of stock pretty soon. Do plan your visit accordingly.

I advice you to NOT have breakfast at Food Station. Here's why-

Taste- -medu wada: In one bowl, they serve one medu wada which does not have a hole. The wada is pre soaked and so the salt inside the wada is washed off, so the wada is almost tasteless from inside. The south indian chutney and sambar that they serve with wada also has no taste because they don't put enough salt or spice in them. The podi is the only thing that had taste in it- spicy but saltless- so it felt like i was eating soggy wada with lots of podi and tasteless chutney. It was one of the worst South Indian I have ever eaten. Had to eat a REAL medu wada at a lawry at one fifth the price right after going here to forget what I had just eaten. -Uttapam: uttapam was another nightmare. It was too thick, which meant it's upper side was left under cooked. The uttapam was also covered in too much podi and had no salt. It felt like i was eating partially cooked tasteless batter covered in podi instead of uttapam. -Idli: Idli was normal looking but tasted below average. It felt undercooked as it stuck to teeth while chewing and again idli had no salt. Possibly they use the same batter for medu wada and idli which was the reason for sticky idli. -Dosa: Dosa(which was not on their menu on a Sunday) is their only saving grace. It was crispy and thin and had adequate salt. The dosa was quite good but only slightly better than average.

Quantity- one plate of medu wada has ONE medu wada. uttapam was too small in size, although they could argue that 'even though it is small, it is thick!'. But that is not a good thing! Quantity for idli and dosa was fair.

Staff behaviour- the people serving food seemed to be the owner and were well behaved. Its the way they run the place that is the problem. Firstly they don't cook every item everyday, so u r left guessing what they will cook on a specific day. Secondly, even though they had enough vadas, they refused to serve more than a certain number of vadas to a single customer because they care more abt the customer who is not yet present than the customer who is actually present in their restaurant. This offended me the most about them.

Ambience- it's a small shop. It does not have enough parking space nearby so one has to park on road side to visit this place. The plastic chairs here are small and siting arrangement is hardly comfortable. They are a small shop which means they might not have enough money to buy steel spoons which means they use plastic a lot, which is not environment friendly.

Price- High for such bad tasting food. As of end of Nov 2018, price of one plate of idli or wada was 50 rs per plate.

I would not recommend this place. Probably eat fresh south Indian breakfast somewhere near vastrapur or probably Vaibhav in the morning. Even cooking at home is more advisable than wasting money and taste buds at...

No one.. i repeat no one is serving authentic south Indian food in ahmedabad other than this uncle aunty.

I have been eating here since 2005-6 while they used to serve in food vegan (auto)

Idly fluffy tasteful Coconut chutney = excellent taste Poudi chutney = not a single south indian food serving restaurant or lari wala is 1% close to the taste of poudi chutney this food station is serving.. 5* out of 5.

Sambar vada.. finger licking taste (read spoon licking) perfect balance of sambar n hint of coconut chutney and little dip of poudi.. 5* out of 5.

Sambar : no one. I repeat no one is serving delicious sambar in ahmedabad other than Food Station. Everyone is serving may be mix veg dal or something more or less.. but here at food station. The most authentic sambar taste you ever gonna enjoy...

Overall 5* our 4.9* {0.1) leaving for the crowd managment (इतनी भीड़ होती है के आप का आर्डर कमसे काम 30 तो लेगा ही. ) you would be lucky if you served fast other than Idly..

To conclude my rating.

Those who like south indian food. The only place in ahmedabad is

Food Station.

Must try poudi masala dosa

Oh i forgot.. they use GHEE not butter. Thats awesome initiative (though they are doing since many year )

Thank you aunty for the delicious south india food you been serving us since one and half decade (atleast itne time se to mai aa raha hoon)

Par aaj mai 2 saal ke baad aaya...
